Despite my disdain for some of the photos in this thread I can't help but to still read.

Anyway... Sam, you are an excellent bassist. The videos (while not my cup of tea) rocked. I know several bassists around here who you could play circles around. Normally that type of music just drones on and on. In your videos though, the bass brought it out quite nicely. So yeah... Good job!

When posting on a forum, you expose yourself and ask for comments. You should expect, and accept, that not every one of them will be supportive. There has been some overracting against the few one that dared not be amazed by what they saw on here.

This is not an excuse for rude comments, but there's no need to act as we were in a kind of care bears land.


I am asking myslef if this isn't one of talkbass most sexists thread. Suddenly everyone has to be kind just because a few girls post in here? (I am not saying that beeing kind is something bad, just that you don't see it brought to that point in ANY other TB thread).

Oh dear lord....we won't judge you by what you looked like at 15 if you promise not to do the same:D I had braces and hair like Paul Stanley when I was 15, not to mention a fine collection of bellbottom pants and a NEW CBS fender;) Today, I'm just another bald guy:hmm:

I have to wonder about the pressure women must feel to fit a "mold" that seems to be ingrained. Men don't really feel that, and all men (as evidenced here) aren't into that "mold" for women either. Personally, I like a woman to look like a female(which means having an actual shape), not like a 12 year old boy.

So, don't judge your looks so harshly ladies

I'm not asking anyone to be amazed but I don't believe that calling someone ugly and diseased is called for whether male or female. A line has been crossed and that is unacceptable.

I really do my best not to and my self esteem has improved vastly than were I was 7 years ago but its a constant battle. I went through the same kinds of comments all through my school life.

I didn't say that all the anwers were too strong ;-) Negative or critic is not the same as rude. When someone goes too far and lands in that last one, it calls for a reaction.


Many other reactions were justified too, but there has been quite much "over the top" anwers.
(and I'm not speaking "the deej posts" but generally, I just lack the english skills to make it clear when my "you" points at one person or is a plural :p )

so guess we're talking about me. you could just say that?

it may have been a little much but he just personally attacked and was all "overrated, she sucks". like oh...wow..okay..cool. Thank god you've heard me play multiple times and can give such a fantastic, well organized and well written citique of me and my bass playing skills...bless you for your time..bless you

sorry if i overreacted everyone, dont wanna bring down the thread. :hiding:
