Chipotle

Last time I went there my burrito was wrapped so poorly I ended up dumping it into my basket and eating it with chips and a fork...

...it was delicious, but not the ideal burrito-eating experience.

As a whole I prefer Moe's. I think it tastes better (personal preference), you don't have to buy chips separately, and on Moe's Monday you can get any burrito+chips+a drink for $5.95 (I believe). Chipotle's still decent, but definitely second to Moe's.

The odd thing is, I know a lot of people who think Chipotle is better. I do not know how that's possible giving my experiences with both chains.

I never suggest going there, but if the people I'm with want to go, I won't object. I get the burrito bowl with pork. It's tasty, but after a drink I'm spending like 10 bucks. 12 if I spring for the guac. Gimme a nachos bell grande and a Doritos cool ranch taco supreme any day and I'm a happy man.

That's what I'm saying. Why not just go to TB, get more food, and pay a lot less? If I want to spend that much on "Mexican" then I'd rather go to Moe's. Otherwise, let's go to a real Mexican place and skip this Americanized BS.

Moes and chipotle are on the same level for me. Expensive pseudo Mexican that's not as good as Taco Bell anyway.

There's a taco truck near my buddies house with 2 dollar tacos that blows them both away. The line goes down the block sometimes but you're never waiting more than 10 minutes. 3 tacos and one of those Mexican sodas made with real sugar and you got yourself a meal.

I've tried Mexican food on several visits to the US, and feel like I got ripped off and served some bland, boring crap, basically. There must be better than stuff than that around, but I'm sure that I wouldn't find it in any chain restaurant.

Find a truck on the side of the road and buy from them. Seems sketch, but that's where the majority of the best stuff is.

I haven't been to Taco Bell in years, but it was consistently crappy when I wound up there. Chipotle is just OK at best, but I still like it lot better than TB.

This is the first I've heard of Moe's.

The truck I'm talking about is in a very Hispanic neighborhood. People from pretty much every Hispanic ethnicity south of the US, so the food has to be good. New trucks pop up all the time and disappear right away if the foods not delicious.

Ever since I'd left CA, I've been looking for a "authentic" So-Cal style taco joint. Moe's is kinda close, but they're more like Fresh City... Chipotle is just overpriced high falutin Taco Bell. I'm with Cheezwhiz, TacoHellChitpotle makes me paint the toilet.

Thankfully, I found a real deal So-Cal taco stand style joint in CT called "Turtles Tacos". That's the only place I go now. In fact, I just had it 2 hours ago. :)
