Chisonic Wiring

I just got a single Chisonic humbucker. I want to wire it up without the coiltap, just a single volume and tone control. It has red/black and green/black wire pairs. Does anyone know how the wiring would go for this pickup in this configuration? I have an email out to chicagobassdoctor.com, as suggested by Hanson Pickups, but thought I would ask here too.

Did you want the pup in series or parallel?

I think for series you want to connect black from coil 1 to green from coil 2.

Then red is hot and remaining black (and bare) are ground.

For parallel, you twist coil 1 red and coil 2 black together, and they are hot, and coil 1 black and coil 2 green together, and they are ground. (as well as bare ground wire.)

(I tried red and green together as hot, and both blacks together as ground for parallel wiring, and they were out of phase.)

I wound up just using one coil because I liked the sound better. More of a P-bass tone.

If you have the time, try all your options with a dummy output jack and some aligator clips and see what you like best.

Awesome, thanks. That's a good idea to try various wiring schemes with alligator clips. I think I will go that route using your post as a guide of where to start. Thanks again!

My pickup does not have a bare wire.

I really think trial and error will be the best case. I was really excited to run mine in HB mode, and it just sounded too "slappy" to me... too sparkly. I tried series mode, and it had more midrange, which was nice, but it lost some of its character.

one coil == instant P-bass, especially in that position, which is what I was after. If I were going for extreme neck postiion or bridge position, HB mode might still make more sense.
