Choosing a 4x12

I am currently playing my Morris-darling through a Marshall MB450H (looking to upgrade that soon) and that is hooked up to a Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x15 (FUN!!)

But I am getting pretty intrigued by 12" speakers and decided to look for a 4x12 - and especially one that is put together like a guitar cab (that is mostly for the aesthetics). So I would like to get some input on which 4x12 cabs with that config are worth looking into. And 4 ohm is a must

I'm a HUGE fan of the Peavey TVX series 4x12. Cheap, built like a tank... and actually sounds pretty damn good. But, i'm pretty sure they're discontinued... which means you have to get em used... which means even less expensive, BUT may be hard to find.

Other than that... The mighty mighty Bergantino NV412 seems to consensually be the be-all-end-all of 412s. I've played one... pretty much the best sounding cab i've ever played out of. Expensive as hell, and doen't have guitar aesthetics... but if you want a good 412... that's it!

+1 on the Peavey 412... I a have a friend that pushes one with a Peavey Classic 400 and it slays! Among the most brutal of tone snobs in that particular local circuit, it's generally agreed that his bass tone is top of the pile even staking up against Mesa 400+/Ampeg 810 setups and other pro bruisers.

I LOVE the Tvx 412. I firmly believe it is the best bass cabinet Peavey has produced to this day. I'd love to have another one to pair with my Ampeg 810E. Talk about a rig of doom...

I know two different people that stack 2 TVX412's...

It will dwarf the 8x10!!!


Mmmm.... 2 stacked 4x12 TVXs next to an 8x10 with 2 heads on top....

GK made a couple 4x12 a long time ago. As did Marshall. They make a bass 4x12 for hte Lemmy edition head, but I think they are MDF, which I would pass on.
The Mesa 4x12 is thunder-ific. But it has the same staggered speakers as the aguilar and the berg.

For looks, I'd say go with the Peavey mentioned.
For sound, I'd say go with an Aguilar GS412.
