Choosing a Japanese Jazz Bass

Not sure what you mean. Does Fender Japan use Basswood for any of their Jazz basses? I though that was pretty much bottom line Squier and more entry level instruments from other manufacturers.

They use it on the lower end JB62 Models.
Damn, I found an Ibanez SR 745 MIJ, I don't know which bass I want for my 18th B-Day soon

check it out if thoroughly if you're trying to avoid certain woods, pickups, and bridges, because the lower end one i have is basswood with the non threaded bridge
(i dropped in classic 60's custom shop pickups and i love it now!)

That's exactly the problem, I don't have problem with Ash, Alder, RW and Maple...
Oh and I didn't mention I'm a big fanboy of "K-On!" so I'm really attracted to that JB62-US

I'd lean towards the 75 Ashv&vMaple personally. They look killer, and it would add an interesting contrast to the US jazz you already have, so you're rounding out the stable a bit more.

God damn it! I can't ****ing believe that!
After finally deciding I'd go with the JB75 someone else buys it! There was a good deal in eBay that I missed, come on... This is bass torture, after finally deciding I don't want the JB62 I'm missing the one that I was all excited about :cry:

Convince me that I should add another Alder+RW to my collection (I already have an American Standard which is Alder+RW and basically the same color as the JB62)

Yes they do. I have a '62 reissue from '89. Basswood body. Fantastic tone. Although they say that basswood is easier to bump and scratch because it is softer than Alder or Ash and I have to agree.

EDIT: Oh and of course, tone is subjective.

What about the Aerodyne? I have one, swapped out the bridge and it's an awesome bass.
