Chopping

When I build I'm not necessarily looking for anything of the absolute highest quality. When I look at parts, especially electronics, I find them around $100-$200 for just the pickups if I'm lucky and thrifty,but I realized that I can buy a decent bass for about $120 at my local pawn shop, strip it, and have most if not all the parts I need for a build. Any one else chop parts?

Judging by the amount of times I see a bass-worth of parts listed by the same seller, I'd say this happens quite a bit. Not that I think that is a good idea to do any more than you have to, but in your case, I'd say go for it as long as the pieces you keep are the good ones.
