chorus? delay? reverb?

Hi TBer~
I'm pretty new to effects. I'm the type of guy likes 'light is the best', so I always use sigle comp or single pre one at a time. recently I bought PT nano for using pre and comp togethet and really happy with it!! but:bored: I ve got gas problem for my nano's empty spot.:crying:

so, I ve got mooer tender octav for one spot and still have one more spot for mini size pedal.

I want to get one for my soloiong but which one will be best between delay, reverb or chorus?
I'm thinking one of TC mini pedal.

I'm mostly playing gaspel and jazz(with DB)

With a delay able to do short times (like the TC does) you can kind of fake the other two. Plus, the toneprint editor allows you to add some modulation (like chorus) to the effect. And you get a looper! :thumbsup:

I don't think the mini Flashback has the loop function, but other than that this would be a good choice.

My two cents go to the mini corona, since I love chorus effects on bass in general. :)

Or if you don't have a tuner on there than a Polytune mini should be the next purchase.

I use the Mini Corona. Its a nice pedal. I had a delay/reverb too, which is was the Earthquake Devices Dispatch Master. It's incredible, but I don't like recording in with delay or verb, as it makes punches basically impossible. I use plugins for that.

For your musical genre I´d bet for a chorus, but not only for soloing. You wil find so usefull for dancing songs or even for the praise songs and with slow tempos. The TC mini it´s a good enough choice.

The delay and reverb they are interesting effects too. But probably you will narrow using only for your bass solo.

You are absolutely right, the TC Flashback Mini does not include the looper function. :( I guess that would have been asking too much from such a small enclosure :oops:

The main thing I've found about chorus is that you don't want chorus on the low end of the bass. Make sure the pedal you have contains a feature that allows you to use the effect in a way that chorus affects the midrange and high end and not the low end. With a multi-effect that allows you to program the eq with the fx, you can punch in an eq setting that will bring out the chorus effect for soloing.

Never heard of that genre. Does your singer look like this on stage all the time?

well, I don't need loop function, so that is fine. I don't have a tuner but I am using clip style.

hmm.. I should try chorus then. I never use chorus on bass before though.

It sounds great, don't worry. :) I don't know any recordings with double bass and chorus, but Sting, Duff McKagan (GnR), and Jeff Caxide (Isis) all use a chorus in their bass parts, and I know a lot of people on TB have talked about how good a fretless sounds with chorus.

I wouldn't get a chorus. I personally prefer modulated reverb with decay turned back over chorus. Chorus pedals a cool in combination with other pedals but I'm just not into them by themselves much anymore. I'd recommend for a mini pedal to either get the tc hof mini and use the modulated toneprint or the tc flashback mini and use the sausage and beer toneprint which I think is a great sound for jazz solo type stuff.
