This arrangement is by way of the classic Ahmad Jamal trio- Live at the Pershing. Christian is always honoring the tradition, even as he paves new territory.
Yeah that's what I thought as well Chicago, Israel is incredible on the Ahmad Jamal records, glad you liked it Silevesq, gives me something else to keep working towards!
It's funny because I never really heard Israel in Christian's playing til this tune- he's paying a very clear homage here. Israel Crosby continues to be one of the most influential bassists in history, though he is often glossed over in education and public discourse. James Jamerson Jr. said his dad would come home from work at motown and listen to nothing but the classic Ahmad Jamal and Oscar Peterson trios.
