Chuck Rainey : First Interview Since Having Stroke

That stroke took something out of him, but I'm glad Mr. Rainey is still able to gig. I hope the tour he doing is a great success!
He's on the way to recovery one day at a time.
From what I've been told it is. He tours Japan once a year with Marlena Shaw and have been for years.
Good for Chuck. My mom had a major stroke 16 years ago and hasn't recovered so well, so I know how devastating it can be, but I'm glad for Chuck that he was able to get back in the saddle.

Chuck told me that he did 10 shows with Marlena Shaw last month.
Thanks bro. It's unbelievable, but this year she made it to 80, and still smokes like a chimney. I only wish she could enjoy it.

i'm working right now, but will watch these as soon as i get the chance. i've been really curious to know how chuck has been recovering.
as a son, brother, and father to loved ones living with the effects of severe strokes, i have a feeling chuck will raise the hairs on the back of my neck when i watch this, and the longer i've lived, the more i realize that those moments are what life is about

I am not too familiar with Chuck's playing outside of a few famous Steely Dan tracks, but when you see grooves like this... damn!!

I remember Chuck calling me a couple of months after he had the stroke and his voice sounded like it always had and I did not at all detect any slurring when we spoke. Chuck is definitely a strong, resilient and positive individual. And Chuck one of the most sincere down to earth person I have come to know.

My guitarist had a stroke during one of our gigs this Feb. Fortunately I had just taken a 1st aid/CPR refresher and recognized it (he lost playing ability, and we stopped the set and took him outside to assess). We got him to the hospital quickly, and he recovered in a matter of weeks.
We were really, really lucky.
I am so glad to see Chuck playing again.

Thanks for posting this. Very inspiring. Chuck looks and sounds great after going through such serious injury. My stepfather suffered a pretty severe stroke several years ago and it was one of the scariest situations a family can go through.

I'm sure Chuck has had some challenges, but I detect that he's speaking to non-native English speakers (Japanese) and is being careful that he's understood. Also, some of the camera angles are not very good.

Thanks for posting that, Jauqo. That was wonderful. I love Chuck Rainey! Listening to him has had a huge influence on my development. I'm glad he's doing well and back to playing!
