I don't believe that beverage break was on the original track. 
The Ric 4000 sounds unbelievable but so does the Spector Legend in his next video that came up. It sounds very much like the Ric 4000 did which had a very uncharacteristic sound, what gives?
Yes, yes it is. Chuck Rainey is one of my biggest bass heroes. He is so solid, intuitively clever, unassuming but amazingly proficient. You don't realize the extent of his technical genius until you start to deconstruct his lines because his pocket is so brilliant and his work so understated. This is my go-to album for practicing with when I want to move outside my comfort zone.
The thing I'm trying to figure out is how it was played live in Dm. A drop D tuner would work. PLaying the low D on a 5 string would also work , but require a lot of shifting. When I try to view videos of their concerts, I really cant see much.

My first good bass was a 4000. I played it for seven years. This great video really makes me want to find another one.

IIRC it wasn't that bad for a vintage Ric, a little under 2 grand I think.
