cigarette burns, lets see em

IMG_1106.jpg

Back in the day when every body smoked without fear of SWAT teams attacking,
It was common to see a cigarette stuck in the head stock and beer sitting on amps.
OMG role models etc.

On a Jazz or P a cigarette slides nicely under the A, D or G string and is firmly in place.

I used the huge ash tray on the amp technique, I was afraid I’d burn my head stock or the tolex on my amp.

I also thought it was obscene to deliberately smash a bass, guitar or amp. Still do actually.

smoking drinking and carousing are the cornerstone of rock n roll baby. when you make more money then slash, eric clapton, keith richards or numerous other musicians then you get to weigh in on the "professionality" of smoking on stage. should you smoke at a wedding gig..probably not but trust me those that are smoking on stage arent usually rocking that kind of gig as their main. we arent insurance agents or bankers on stage were musicians and our professionality extends to making sure we give the crowd the best bang for their buck and making sure were checking all the girls IDs.

I've been around long enough to watch a lot of musicians die much too early due to smoking, drinking and drugs. This isn't to moralize, just to say that not every successful musician lives the "live hard and die young" lifestyle. The musicians cited above managed to live through some pretty turbulent times. Most of the audience members I know are turned off by such things.

In today's world, smoking anywhere is clearly an act of rebellion, but it's also not very smart. Being a rebel is often seen as cool, but being a dumb rebel isn't as cool.

Cig burns on instruments have gone the way of smoking - I doubt that many people consider them as anything other than a disfigurement on an instrument.

Don't "suck" the fun out of this ok. :ninja:

Yeah, I've changed my mind, I'll let the '69 and '72 headstocks unburned and will burn the '78 (heard many stories about how the 70s fenders suck) and I really have to burn a 6 string headstock, well I picked my Warwick streamer LX6.....and will open the bottle (look at the pics) and smoke many cigarretes :hyper: (kids, don't do that!)
:D :D
