Yes, in the late '40s early '50s there was a mass exodus from the hills of Eastern KY to the Cincinnati area. My family hails from the Louisa / Ft. Gay area.

mostly, young men, drafted into WWII, came back after seeing the world, and got restless. most didn't want to end up with BLD from working the mines. With the large steel plants and energy plants, these guys that grew up around coal knew this was the next stop on the economic highway that thier fathers and grandfathers started.

Hey all -- new to the forums, from cincy the gtg sounds cool. Side question - what is/are the good to shop(s) for bass repair/upgrades locally?

Not to toot my own horn... but me :) click the link in my signature

Side note: I say we let the voting continue through next sunday (the 19th) then we start firming up a location and details. Any objections? maybe shut it down earlier? Later?

@ J-raj Even though your GA via KY we'd still let you come hang with us northerns ;)

That works haha. Not far from home either. I have a sr505 I want new pups and pre in and am picking up a am deluxe jazz next week. Probably will need a full setup and for you to check out any other common issues and possibly some barts and a new pre also. Your rates are cool I'll contact when ready.

Justin is great, have no fear turning your bass over to him. He knows what he is doing.

I've been spending more time in Lexington, KY these day, so I'm even closer to Cincy. Unless I pick something up from Brian between now and then, I'll just bring my 2 epifani rigs (one cab will look familiar to you), Nordy vJ5 and Benavente SCD6'er.

I was at Brian's (LowEnd) last Friday and he mentioned that your band is going to be doing 2 gigs during the Tattoo convention in Nashville April 15-17... Sounds like fun, if I wasn't booked during that time frame I would totally be there.

Awe schucks fellas! all this love for little 'ol me! I'm honored!

Man, those show should be a ton of fun. We open stuff up saturday with an hour set, so we get to pull out probably all the originals, our bass and drums solo piece, and our whacked out version of Hysteria. Sunday is only a 45 min. so we might ditch the solo, the cover, and an original or two. We're getting down there on the 2nd of April as well, but the drummer is in charge of that gig, so I'm not quite sure what the 411 on that one is. BTW, I'm seriously considering selling my Aggie 8x10 and trying to pick up two of the nyc 4x10 epifanis. Just more flexible for loading the van.

Anyway, my gear for the GTG... Probably my R bass single cut, an Acacia custom 5er (or 3), My benavente SCD 33 fretless 5, Mesa 400+ and Aguilar 8x10, and maybe my downsized pedal board.

Justin does good work. He has worked on a 5-er I used to own, and my current Gretsch, in addition to tackling my balalaika, mandolin and banjo.

For the GTG, I would be bringing my fretless and my GK Backline 210.

Sounds like a fun gig, Brian and Shannon were giving Amy and I heck for being busy during that tattoo fest.

What is the date that we are shooting for, for this gtg again?

I just picked up this after an 11 month wait...

Last time we got together I was having a lot of health problems, and I ended up selling everything, getting lighter and shorter....

I've been through a LOT in that time period, but the good news is I'm on my way back to full health, so I'll be bringing my new(used) Lakland 55-02

Some of you guys can school me in how it's supposed to sound. :)
