I was in Cincy today picking up a ton of radio equipment from the old Warm 98/96Rock studios-nothing like driving a 14-foot U-Haul through downtown. :D

I'm going to hit up the GC around noon and then drive over to the warehouse after. See you all tomorrow.

I hadn't realized that GC had moved. What an odd place to move TO, if you ask me. I think their other location was much better. That shopping center looks like it's going out of business.

I'm finally home. The GTG was a lot of fun! Not as many people this year but mainly it seemed that the younger crowd are the ones that didn't show up. Lots of nice basses. I took some pics and I'll get them up as soon as I take a look at them. Nice to see so many familiar faces! :) Thanks again to Nysbob for getting us the place again this year.

Guys (and girl), it was fun. Thanks to Bob, again, for hosting the site. It really does work out nice. Nobody nearby, so we can thump all we like. Sorry, but I didn't get everyone's name. It was all I could do to figure out what basses there were. I've got pics that I'll try to post tomorrow. I have to get to a gig in about an hour and a half. Good seeing some familiar faces. The stuff that really caught my eye:

  • Dingwall Afterburner 4 string - very nice, and very comfortable
  • Justin's (?) 10-string paired, with the tuning keys on both ends. Beautiful and intimidating.
  • The Mesa Pulse amp with the Schroeder cab. Very meaty
  • The Kramer - already forgot the model, but it was cool
  • Bob's gear - you gotta love a guy who knows what he likes and stays with it. He's not cursed like a lot of us.
  • Eagle Moon's Ric - normally not comfortable for me to play, but hers was good in my hands. Always love the Ric sound
  • Phil Jones Briefcase - packs a punch in a tiny package

hes slowly getting his stuff back. last i saw, he had an SVT 2x15 from the 70's that he wanted rid of.. said he'd take 200 dollars just to get it out of the shop. also has some 60's bassman cab thats pretty sweet. as usual, just a bunch of odds and ends. he's building another teaching room because he's got so much more business.

are you calling 513 631 8318?

thats the number i always use and i always reach him. keep in mind he closes around 6 or something on weekdays, and i think is closed on mondays or something.

Hey everybody, thanks for making it worth the 2 hour trip. Had another good time at this one. That Dingwall was really nice and gave me a new love for fanned frets, as did the Acacia that I lust after every night before I go to bed. Sorry I didn't have much to bring this year but maybe Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny will be more generous this year so I'll have more goodies next time. Oh, and Chris, that STR was freakin' sweet, as was that Benevente fretless. Wow, what GAS pains I have now. Thanks for the memories.

Pics will come tomorrow.

It was great seeing everyone - thanks for bringing so many cool instruments to try out. There were so many nice ones, it's hard to single one out...but the Bienevente fretless was especially sweet. also really dug the 10 string - something like makes you want to write something especially for it.

Thanks for posting up pics, and thank God I'm not in many of them. :D
