Cioks dip switches

Ok. Cioks DC10. Er...what is up and what is down? And is ‘up’ off or on?

For the first question there seems to be an assumption that there’s an obvious orientation for the unit. I would assume the face with the brand name and LED is the top, so UP would be toward this face, but the numbers on the dip switches are ‘upside down’ from this orientation so if I orient by those then UP would be *away* from that side. This seems entirely possible as the unit may be considered ‘inverted’ in its mounted position.

Worse still, the manual and the unit seem to contradict each other as to what up and down actually do. The manual ( [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) says that UP is ON and DOWN is OFF, but the info panel on the under (or possibly top??) side of the unit seems to indicate the opposite: it has an UP arrow for OFF and a DOWN arrow for ON.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Ok I collected myself and tested using the breathing function.

breathing (dipswitch #1) = *away* from the numbered side of the dip switch = *away* from the branded side of the unit.

According to the unit this is OFF and UP arrow. Physically for me this is actually DOWN.

Ridiculous design but at least I seem to have an answer.

It's exactly as it's printed right on the DIP switch. UP is ON. DOWN is OFF.

I have the AC10. And, yes, both the design and manual are ridiculous. But it's a solid power supply. I'll give it that.

Maybe I'm spoiled by having used DIP for so long, what am I missing about these DIP switches being so hard to understand?

It's exactly as it's printed right on the DIP switch. UP is ON. DOWN is OFF.

I haven't had to do mine in a few years either. But I remember the manual having a wonky description in it. And mine wasn't obvious as to which way was "up" either.

+1 on struggling to figure out which way was up on older models, I had to break out a voltmeter. Every time.

Yeah those are different DIP switches than the DC10 I posted above has. The current ones are clearly marked.

I love Cioks and have 3 of them including the latest DC 7.This one does just about all you can ask for in a power supply. 7 isolated outputs that can take up to 660 mA at 9v but each output will also accommodate 12v,15v and 18v.This one does it with 2 switches per output with a dot on each.The volts coincide by positioning them up or down in whatever combination.It's much easier than I explain it.It really is a powerful unit,and Cioks seems to have covered all the bases with this one.
