Classic Vibe Jazz Bass Modifications

Hey

I'm thinking of changing the pick-ups and tuning keys for my Squier Classic Vibe 60's Jazz Bass, However I haven't done anything like this before so I have afew questions for those of you with more experience than myself.

Firstly I'd like to change the tuning keys on the instrument, I like those really vintage style tuners which take up the whole backside of the headstock, almost like the tuning keys are touching each other. A little hard to describe i hope you understand

My main worry about changing the tuning keys is, will the vintage style tuning keys actually fit onto my headstock, both in terms of the actual whole size and room behind the headstock?

Secondly i'd like to replace both the pickups. I have my eyes on either Seymour Duncan pick-ups or DiMarizo. The same problem here as the tuners, will the pick-ups fit into the body of my instrument? I'd hate to do anything to force the pick-ups in.

I'm not sure about the tuners but the important thing to look for is the hole diameter size.
As far as the pickups go, if the Squire is like the mexican jazz, they used to have both the neck and bridge pickups the same size which would have caused a problem when buying aftermarket pickups which would typically have a slightly larger bridge pickup than neck.
But they changed this on the mexican jazzes so that they match the americans, I assume they also did this with the Squires.
That being said, I put Dimarzio Model Js in mine and I have been very happy.
The Dimarzios are a great value for the cost and they have no buzz.
