"Clean" bass preamp pedal?

MXR M80 is a good option for clean sounds, always thought it was a versatile pedal. M81 if the M80 footprint is too big for your liking.

i've found my overdriven/fuzzy direct tone in my Sansamp VT Bass DI pedal (set up pretty close to the "fuzzed out" setting in the manual, but with character and drive at 2 o clock, and "bite" off).
Now i'm looking for a small bass preamp pedal that does a good clean tone, preferably with a speaker sim or hi-end roll-off built in (this will also be for direct/IEM use). i'll be using a Boss LS-2 pedal to toggle between the two preamp pedals.
looking for a warm clear tone that isn't clanky.
any suggestions/feedback?

I'm on the never ending quest for that tubey warmth without lugging around a 80lb. SVT . have you considered a little bear G3 preamp pedal I'm thinking about trying one out anybody got some 411 on this little cubby.

Another vote for the FETF2B. I have the first one he built in the polished and etched style. The one pictured on his website is the pedal he built for me.

can users give a little more detail on it's tone?

i would use it before my Radial J48 DI into a recording interface or PA.

Passive Fender J with Fralin hum-cancelling, Bacchus active Woodline DC, and Ibanez piezo fretless.

Another vote for the Shift Line Olympic mk III. A classic tube preamp that sounds fantastic, from clean to pushed. I own a lot of preamps, Ampeg, Sansamp,MXR, EBS, Darkglass, Rusty Box, Verellen, Noble, Two Notes and a bunch more, and for a clean tube amp sound this is my absolute favourite. Can’t say good enough things about this black little beauty.

Lehle Clean boost comes to mind.

The MXR 81 is a good pedal. It has sweepible mids which are really useful, one of the few that have that feature at that price point.

Well everybody seems to be after that perfect warm clean boost with out lugging around a 80 lb. SVT head , I own one and there nothing like it . but l use a hartke vxl bass attack or joyo California sound. Sometimes the old DOD fx 91 comes out just back off on the OD and it will give you a warm clean boost I guess You just gotta experiment with what you have. Play on.

For a straight ahead clean preamp for bass or guitar in a small footprint, I’ve had good luck with the TCE Spark Booster. No speaker emulation. But the Mooer Radar soeaker sim is tiny, sounds good, and doesn’t take up a lot of space on a board since it’s the same size as their other pedals.

Henretta Engineering Emerald Prince. It takes an average clean and makes it good... and takes a great clean and makes it excellent. It's something you'll want to always leave on in your effects chain. Bravo!

Joyo American, California or British. Yes they all do dirt but sound pretty great clean.

This really depends on what kind of budget you have.

If you're looking for a bass preamp which satisfies those with a lower budget, the Hartke Bass Attack 2 or MXR M81 will provide a good enough clean preamp boost.

Otherwise, potentially take a look at the Gallien-Krueger PLEX.

This thread started a year ago, so the op has probably found his clean preamp, but let me ad a vote for the EWS Tri-Logic III like @Zbysek did above. The eq is really versatile (semi-parametric mid and selectable high and low frequencies). It's also very well made.

If you are looking for a DI/Pre The useful arts BF-1 hands down. Tube (2) sweetness and includes LF HF knobs. Its on the line of a Noble but its a newer company starting to make its mark. A beautiful sounding DI/Pre.

Probably too big but the Aguilar TH was always a great clean tone to the front of house
