clean blend DI - active or passive?

Hi Justin!

I've searched the forum for this and found some info but I still have some questions:

1) You recommend both the MXR and the Radial JDI. The JDI is passive and since you play mostly passive basses I wonder if you ever encountered problems. Most people say that a passive DI should only be used after an active bass or buffered FX. But used as a clean DI it would be used right after a passive instrument and before any FX.

2) How often do you use your own DIs? I imagine that the soundmen/studios in "your league" mostly prefer to use their own stuff.

Thanks for any insights!

PS: I own all the NIN DVDs and recently downloaded the Gift. I have to say - in my opinion you really made a difference! Simply great!

1) I don't really pay much heed to the script, if that's indeed true. I'm not sure who "most people" are, but I've never met them in my time on duty. :) My JDI sounds cool with my passive basses.

2) Not as often as you'd think. Only where I'm doing something more low to mid-level do I use my own.

p.s. thank you so much! I'd love to see that dvd myself at some point.
