Me too, but unfortunately I've been off the road for two years because of this cancer. From 200+ gigs per year to "zero". The only money coming in is from social security disability, so not much. Add in medical bills along with that, and pretty much my only option is to go "budget brand" like IYV and then tweak and mod it.
Believe me, if this were two years ago and I was making money, I'd definitely get the IBBY
I like a good headless bass but can't get comfy on the Ibby. The Riverhead in my avatar is a whole other story, literally play's itself!
I bought mine used for $800. Changed the side markers to mop and moved the strap button so the bass would hang normal. Around 7.5 lbs with low action and lots of tones. FOH guy loves it.
What's the comfort issue with the Ibby, if you can say? I saw a vid where the owner lowered the bottom end pin and it hung much better. Other issues?

Either way, she's gonna get her co-pay. The health care system, Bon Secours, literally tore-down her home-base hospital (DePaul / Norfolk VA). Makes for a nice road-trip once a year.

OK, I used some Amazon gift card credit and broke down and ordered the IYV headless multiscale to try out. For $300 and an easy return policy, I can't really lose out.
I'll be sure to post a review when it arrives (tomorrow) and after I've had a chance to go through it and get a basic feel for it.
Should be a useful review for people since I scratch build guitars and basses, and I'm going in as a skeptic that isn't automatically into either headless OR multi scale.

Hard to quantify, the ones I've played had no straps so i can't comment on that. I just felt that the body wasn't shaped for me, and my portly figure.
My main bass is the Ibanez EHB1000S.
The headless design and the comfort are a great fit for me.
It took a tiny bit of time for me to adjust to how the body 'sat' against my body and the way the cutaway at the back rotates the bass slightly upwards but once I got used to it, it became amazing to play.
I still break out my P and J and other basses every now and then, but I've gotten used to the Ibby and find I don't get the same comfort on another basses.

Love a headless. Had a cheap 34" steinberger spirit . Great bass for $300. Now, well, now, ... now I got this from Ray Simonetti. Yes, its all that and more. 30.5 inches. NO dive. Same size as les Paul . Lots lighter too!!!!!!. Ray is wonderful to work with, and a really generous teacher of all things wood and auto clear coating! Yeah: auto clear coat. Who knew. But its hard as hell.

With some work, yeah… it could be made into a really great bang for the buck headless. I sent it back because with my health, I have to pick and choose what I want to put an effort into.
If I had kept it, it would have needed ….
Lock nut sharp edges filed
Tuner gears greased
Fret dressing
Upgraded preamp (pickups may/may not be ok)
Basic overall lube and oil change (cleanup)
New strings
Shielding
Once that would get done I think you'd have a really cool bass. None of it is really big into itself…it just needed some love that I can't give it at this time
