Hello all,
I just thought I'd post this. Until recently, I was ready to sell my Clevenger (Keyhole) EUB. I'd usually only get it out in the dog days of summer here in St. Louis, but in July and August I had a couple of church services where it was just to tight onstage with my uprignt. I used the Ehrlund Pre Amp to buffer the Clevenger, through a Walter Woods and into a Audiokenisis TC 112, and voila it sounded great, actually better than great. Now I can do those tight gigs, and outdoor gatherings with no fear.

The Clevinger Keyhole with passive vol/tone pots sounds a lot better if the piezos are directly connected to the output (making any vol/tone unavailable).
The passive electronics doesn't work well with a piezo. I made a simple impedance buffer for two piezos (one for each) and put the vol/tone behind it. Much better, only the tone pot could be enhanced. Best idea is to put an home-built FDeck HPFpre in (to fit into the electronics bay), but the room is very limited if you want to put in a 9V battery too.
