I think my strings are too blame for all of this. But when I put on new ones I guess I will find out.

Just run a pencil lead thru the nut slots until it leaves a grey mark in the slot. That'll do it.

Alternatively, you can spend too much $ on a syringe of "big bends nut sauce". Instantly solved tuning stability issues I had on a geetar.

I'm speculating that in your case, it may be a stiction issue between the string and slot - especially with the flats (more surface area).

Quick update on this - it was the strings. They were hosed. Put a new set on and all is fine.

I had an issue with my A string rattling no matter what I tried.
Put a shim in the nut slot and presto.
Your issue baffles me at this late hour.
Maybe new strings, seat the break angle at bridge ?

If you have that clicking sound after everything, like raising the string height enough, then why not order a Warwick Just-a-Nut I? That's the original version, which allows individual string adjustment....
