Also bear in mind that electronically-switched pedals've likely got buffered bypass, so they can't be used before vintage fuzz pedals.

I definitely have a preference for the soft click, but it won’t stop me from acquiring a pedal with a typical switch if I really want the effect.

Bear in mind that a soft switch is more likely to be an electronic switch rather than a mechanical one, so more parts to fail.

But mechanical parts are much more likely to fail than electronics. Especially parts you tread on.

If you are talking about clicks through the amplification these don't fix that problem though.

When I got my first pedal ever (which I believe was a Q-Tron plus (it was definitely an EHX pedal either way)), I believed it to be broken. The push button was so incredibly stiff and when I finally had the courage to push hard enough, it made an incredibly loud click. But it worked... It sure felt like I was going to break something, but eventually I realized that that's literally just how these switches function. And this holds true for most EHX pedals.

I still love them and I actually really like that click now. Not only does it make this satisfying click, but it actually feels like something solid is happening and that that switch will never ever break. MXR pedals for example have a similar click, but they're way lighter. It almost feels like my MXR compressors switch is a broken EHX one sort of.

Sure there's a lot of cool noiseless switches, like the Boss pedals, but I really love the solid feedback of the EHX switches. Especially when I wear thick soles, I tend to not be able to feel whether I pushed the switch all the way or not, or maybe even turn it on and off again by accident. That never happens with the cheap, simple, solid EHX switches.

I like the silent switches on my pedals with silent switches. I like the clicky switches on my pedals with clicky switches. I wouldn't have any of them any other way.

There’s something to be said about 90’s Sovtek EHX pedals, that’s a satisfying click!
It’s like pushing a launch button that’s going to shoot out of an underground silo or bunker, in a sleepy, unsuspecting town. Propelling towards an unknown enemy of unknown origin!
Though, besides those, I prefer the silent ones, though they also don’t make the imagination run like the big button!

I hate loud clicks with a burning hatred.

My favorite:

Volume pedal completely down (no volume). Delay/reverb pedal still engaged at end of signal chain. Click off a dirt pedal somewhere between the two.

Loud pop goes through PA and has the decency to repeat until i panic and turn delay/reverb off.

then further anger as i realise i have trails engaged.

+1 for the Lehle switches. I swapped one out on an EHX Freeze which is a well-known for having a loud-clicking switch, and it’s SILENT. Of course I also repainted and “rebranded” the pedal…
