Starting this thread to document my second custom bass build with Cliff Bordwell. My first build thread can be found here: Cliff Bordwell 6 String Dola Build
Going through the process of my first build with Cliff, I learned a ton about what I'm looking for in a bass both sonically and physically. I'm very much a one bass kind of guy, so I'm hoping that this bass comes out exactly how we planned.
In my first build, I went with the "swiss army knife" approach where Cliff built a bass that has a ton of options (active/passive, two dual coil pickups each with single coil, parallel, and series options). With this second build, we're going on the extreme opposite end and building a very simple bass. Here are the major specs:
34" scale length
Alder body (chambered) and Koa top
Maple neck and Ebony fingerboard (flat)
16.5mm string spacing
Passive
One Original Bartolini Dual Coil in the MM position
Stacked volume and tone knob.
