Cliff Williams leaves AC/DC

If I lost arguably the best hard rock rhythm guitarist who has ever strapped one on as my bandmate (Malcolm) and then had to deal with Axl on tour, I'd call it a day too.
On a side note, it astounds me that they are pulling $250 a ticket. I remember seeing them on the For Those About to Rock tour in Omaha Nebraska and paying $20 for the ticket. Yngwie Malmsteen opened. That was interesting.

Last years tour (with Brian) was the most enjoyable AC/DC show I had seen for years (decades?).
I didn't even bother going the tour (in Oz) before because of their (to me) decline.
Maybe the best I'd seen them since the 80s ? (Or maybe I just had it in mind that it may be the 'last chance saloon' ?)
I'm not much into rock music at all since my teens but I always loved ACDC. I respect them for many things, among them: they never re-recorded their songs with a symphonic orchestra, they never put radio-friendly slime ballads on their records and they never made "unplugged" gigs.
This said, it must be somehow frustrating to be their bass player. I saw them in Hamburg a few weeks ago and the show was brilliant, but the only song, where I could really hear TONES Williams played was Let There Be Rock. The rest was just undefined low-frequency mash (I'm talking about the mix, not Williams abilities).
But Angus seems to have real fun doing what he is doing. I don't think he needs the money. And they make long rests between the shows.

Funny, AC/DC came on the radio almost exactly as I opened this thread to read it. I'd like to see them hang it up at this point. When I saw them around tens year ago, it was the classic line up, they were pretty kick ass. At this point, there's no shame in them calling it a day.
Nope, and they could retire pretty gracefully, too, but if I owned the name AC/DC and I still wanted to play, I would look at the marketing value of it vs the marketing value of any other name, and you bet your ass I'd still call it AC/DC. I think you'd be a fool not to, unless you'd rather tour 2000 seat theaters instead of arenas.
