I hope I like it more then the Snark.
I paid $15 for the SN-1 a few months ago. I wonder why they're so low? It sounds like a discontinued product

The SN-1 recognizes every note I play. How is that different then a chromatic tuner?
The next time I order, I'll get an SN-1 as well so I can compare the difference. I also thought the SN-2 was chromatic while the SN-1 just had preprogramming for guitar string pitches and that was it.

I use both Korg AW-2 and the PC-1
Both have the same accuracy and speed and work well on E
The PC-1 is more compact , indoors works well , but outdoors I cant see the display

I just got the Intellitouch PT10 and it seems way to sensitive.
My bass is a new Shen with good tuners but it won't stay green.
Green is in tune ,red is not in tune.
It flickers back and forth.
PT 10 owners --is this normal?

It looked to me as if the Snark was about as sensitive, but the display not so obvious. If you left the PT10 in place, you could see it out of the corner of your eye and know you were hitting your note without having to look directly at it, I imagine.
I think I'd be happy enough with either

I never really realized this before, but I think you're right. The Snark (for instance) finds the note and pretty much stays there. The PT10 barely stays locked on anything long enough to let me feel comfortable about my tuning. I always thought it was a very sensitive (good) tuner, but maybe its too sensitive.
Between my Korg AW-2, Snark -SN 5, and PT10, the PT10 is the most sensitive, or at least it wavers the most.
Just used the Snark sn-5 (black) tuner for a few gigs. It did fairly well. Locked on pretty quick. I did however have a little trouble getting the open E, plucked or bowed. Same with the G on the E string.
I started with the tuner on the inside middle of the bridge, then experimented with placement. The bass side wing worked best, but that's not really where I like to put it.
I'm still looking.....

I picked up a Korg Pitchjack for the tuner out on my Markbass amp and/or my Fishman pre, but have found that it works very well plugged directly into my Soundclip pickup (which for me makes it a clip-on tuner), but I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well plugged into any other pickup, and could be used in the amp tuner jack for amplified settings. It is extremely lightweight and easy to read.
It seems to find the tone more quickly than my other Korg clip-on; perhaps this is due to the better signal from the pickup piezo than the tuner's, but I speculate.
The downside is that it's not chromatic, although it can be set for flat tunings, so not really helpful for checking intonation all over the board.

+1 for the snark. Clips to my bridge, is fast and does not falter like the intelli does.
I have also used the Peterson iPhone app with good results but it picks up external noise unless you have way to plug into it with an iPhone mic adaptor.

As for apps , I like Trace Tuner. It was free , now .99.
I'd spend .99 for it. It gives a running history of your pitch for 5 sec., kind of like RockBand.

My feelings haven't changed about how the Snark and PT10 work on my bass, but going back over the video, I must say I agree with you. The Snark looks just as sensitive as the PT10, but not as obvious. As the string vibrates less, the string tends to drift a little up or down. The PT10, having a much simpler screen, is either Green or Red. The Snark has little lines that are much less obvious when they change.
Also. I've used the Pitchjack using the jack from my second pickup mounted on my bass. It works great for open tuning, but again, its not chromatic.
So in the last year or two I've tried most of the popular (and some obscure) clip on tuners, and I've found the one that seems to work the best by far. The Planet Waves Mini headstock tuner.
You can hardly see it mounted on the leg of my bridge. It picks up my E string faster and better than anything else I've used. Its also fantastic on my ABG. Again, you hardly see it.

My brother and I have both had Snarks physically break on us. They're a little too frail for my liking. I've been using the Planet Waves NS Mini Headstock Tuner for a few months now and I love it. It's small and sits flat against the headstock, rather than stick out awkwardly like the Snark, which makes it easy to leave on the bass while it's in the case. Despite the small size, the screen is very bright and easy to read.
