Clothing Optional?

My band just got a call today asking us to play a nudist colony. This gig is a referral from another band, and they say it usually a lot of fun (go figure). My wife says we should play the show, pretty much because she thinks its hilarious that we got asked to do it.

Has anyone else here played a nudist colony? If so what was the experience like? Would you do it again?

I think it would be a fun show to add to the resume.

I subbed with a friend's band for a couple outdoor summer events at a nudist resort here in So Cal. The band (and, really, all vendors) stayed clothed. It was...interesting. Not as interesting as you might think, and I certainly learned that most people really do look better with clothing on.

i have a couple friends that have played the nude ranch in tx a couple times. they say it's a blast, and they play in the buff. they say it's kind of weird at first, but then realize that everyone us nekked, so it's ok. i think i'd do it if given the opportunity. go for it!

Do it. My band did it once just for the experience and we've been back twice more and have a show scheduled in March..

Like its been said, it's really not that weird once you realize it is the one place you can go to where your physical body and nudity doesn't matter at all! Anywhere else you go you've gotta be careful about what part of your body is showing/not showing, but not there. Therefor it becomes part of the background that lets you focus on playing and relaxing and having fun (IMO/IME).

I once worked on a nude movie (no, not that kind, this was ART). I was crew so didn't have to be naked (though a lot of the crew were, it was on a nudist beach), but after a few minutes it all became irrelevant and we all got on with the job.

I would hate to see our drummer nude though, so I don't know if I would be up for it with the band!

My only experience with "naturists" (that's what they like to call themselves up here) was working as a carpenter repairing a quonset hut at a camp. Believe me, as was stated above, pretty much everyone there had absolutely NO business being naked, even in private.

It was exciting knowing I was going to work there for the weekend, but my excitement quickly drooped when I was exposed to the first grayed grandma whose carpet matched the drapes...

I have no personal experience to speak of, however i have heard several stories about some places that are apparently a lot closer to my home than I thought. The gist of them being there will be some female-types that youll have a hard time keeping your eyes off of, especially since most dont mind you staring. But the vast majority will have you leaving wanthing to burn your eyes out. Also they apparently get a little freaky. One person i know had a guy come up to him and tried to pay him to do his wife while he watched. all in all though id say go for it, i guarantee youll leave with some good stories
