I would hope that anyone considering a $4,000 jazz bass pretty much knows the general difference between a 60's alder/RW spec and a 70's ash/maple spec.

Me too (which is why I honestly wasn't trying to go there), though if anyone did have that question, I would route them to one of your posts... maybe even that last one. Very well put (as usual).
