I did. While he didn't come right out and say "no", he told me it'd be very hard to do in such a way that I got a pretty firm impression it's not anything we could really expect to get done.

I forget the chain but I'm pretty sure it was my REDDI off the bass and it sounds like some compression too. One thing I'm happy about the KBP5 is the B string sounds like it belongs to a P.

This is getting out of control.

I think this all boils down to the one dude thought the other was being serious about only certain people being "allowed" to play a Fodera because it's such a fine instrument (which they really truly are), when really that was just kind of a joke to emphasize how much he dug the bass. I don't think anyone is challenging how fine of an instrument they are...

...even though they still suck compared to an AC, right AC thread people? Right?

Jimmy confirms that the new shape of the body is wider and slimmer AND... there has not been a noticeable weight difference. He says the All the LM's (more or less) have been in a range of 9 to 10 pound.

So... from his words, i guess there's no "weight choice" but only a "body design choice" (old 2004 perimeter or "the new one").

IMHO the old body is nicer. I just like the way the slightly smaller body feels. I know its not a big deal but its just my 0.02.

Interesting... I guess those heavy LM's at NAMM were one off's. That is VERY good to know. I think it would have been a huge mistake for him to increase the weight significantly. Cool!

PS... I got to hang with Ralphe Armstrong tonight. What an amazing player and a wonderful cat. I'm kind of in a fog right now just thinking about it. He is SO amazing!

It was so killer I could hardly take it, and what a nice cat. He is just SCARY good, and very few really know who he is. I asked the manager of the jazz club if he realized who was playing bass, and he said 'yeah, that's Ralphe'. He just thought he was a local cat who played well! I guess he is a local cat who plays well, but that's like saying Hendrix was OK on guitar. Ralphe said very few people know who he is. I guess it takes a 50+ year old guy who grew up when fusion really hit to remember him in the glory days.

Nice... 'Everything you want' is just the perfect vehicle for a great P Bass tone... very fat and warm and 'supportive'. I dig it, and of course, your playing (as usual!).

Lot's of drums and bass drum in that She's Gone Home cut... whew! Interesting engineering!

There's that perceived elitism going on around certain instruments, which I find rather funny.- regardless of the post I commented on having been a joke or not which is not relevant to me writing what I wrote.
Hence my initial comment.

Brian at The Low End (lowend.net) seems to run into them more than any other used site I've seen. Maybe because they're specifically on his "I'm particularly interested in these" list on his site. Otherwise, I can appreciate your problem. I can't imagine ever parting with mine, and I figure most folks would feel the same.
