Hey Vic,
To answer some of your questions from part 12. From what Jimmy has shared with me, it costs A TON of money for just the program alone so the machine can run. And the makers of the program change it every year so you can't use last year's if you happen to buy a new machine. But it doesn't end there, the vacuum, the cutting table, the air compressor - he had to get so many parts that cost THOUSANDS just to get it where it is now... Which is still a couple steps away from actual production. Then at that point, he has to take time to learn to program the thing which takes away from production... As you said, I'm sure he wouldn't refuse a sale if someone wanted the older body and after it is progammed into the machine then it's cake. But his focus right now is the evolution of the design which is the wider body.


I love the guy but I'd hate to be him right now.

The CNC machine seems to be WAY too expensive and too much of a hassle to purchase for a small boutique builder like Jimmy. It would only make sense to me if you were already churning out thousands of basses and had a ton of staff working for you, not for someone working as a one man shop trying to ramp up production. I could see if he was sending wood out to be CNC'd by someone else, but it seems like way too big of an investment to be owning yourself in a small shop.

Its the which comes first story ..Chicken or the egg .. Actually scientist from MIT just decided the Chicken came first.. anyway..

But you know, he will not only be making parts for Alleva.. He will be making parts for others once it is in full swing.. there is a bigger picture..

Yes Hot Sauce...
Man there is a great HOT SAUCE shop in Nashville... you name it they have it.. every time im there my bud takes me and i get some Habanaro... one drop the size of a period on this page will burn the house down.. mmmmmmmmmmmm mm
