ALL lovely!!! Will get some DECENT pics of my EUT5 & post.
Please tell me Kirk (& anyone else with the P style AC- KBP4 or 5 ) I assume the P style AC's are passive???? Please tell me your thought on these. I've ALWAYS loved the simplicity of P's,in fact the AC EUT5 has been the only 'JAZZ' style bass I've really loved.
I DO have a Fender Reggie Hamilton Sig Jazz Std- which is active/passive 18v 3 band EQ & pup blend between a P pup & a J pup in bridge pos. THAT mainly gets used as a Precision!! Sounds good too.
But I AM intigued re the AC KBP4 or 5 How'd the 5's go ??? I've not played a P style 5'er I've liked, but .....
Thanks,
Rod
In for part 14

As far as I know All of the kbp basses are passive.
Last summer i experimented with a set of early 80s EMG pups in mine. Although they made the low end sound deeper and rounder it was a bit too much for my taste since some of the Mid growl was attenuated. So i went back with my original Pups.
I never put a Preamp in either of mine. I like that { bass sound on many of the Steely Dan records and Hall and Oats records, so a preamp would only mess with that.
My friend has a Reggie Hamilton bass and it is just fantastic.. Great bass!
The kbp5s have come out real nice. Jimmy did a stellar job of getting the body to feel like a 60s P, sleek and wide neck profile like my 62 but wider to accommodate the extra string. Picups were a challenge though... many prototypes... In fact i just a new pup style that i am using right now just to see how it goes in a gig im doing now.
We also wanted it to balance the way a P bass does and not like a Jazz bass.. Jimmy did a few things here and there that made a P bass that has a sort of vocal quality to it.. Like the old P basses. niot like the Mud Machines that came later.. It can do mud it you want it to, but it is more vocal and present like the 60s P bases were..
How would you compare the sound of KBP4s to KBP5s? Thx!
+1!That LM is looking good Yohann! Is the neck on yours one piece or two piece?
