Hey guys, hope you all are fine!

Still waiting for my Tom Barney 5 string.:hmm:

I read something on the AC website about a ' new and improved AC proprietary 5 string bridge' .

Anyone more information on this bridge?
String spacing?
Bend plate or Hipshot like model?

Some Alleva Action Shots.

I wanted to share some pics of my Alleva "Ave Maria" Harley Sparkle Burst KBP5 at a charity gig i did last week at a club in Houston with Point Blank.

The Photographer is a friend of ours...and just sent these to me today..
The bass almost Glows in the dark! haha

Thanks.. That bass is almost NEON on stage as i look down at it. almost distracting!:)..

We were doing a charity event helped a few people in the houston area... It was at a club in N.Houston, TX...not a great stage or lighting but that bass was like a tracking beacon even in low light.. hahha.

Mitch you played it.. you know what that thing does.. It was your recommendation that i gave Jimmy the thumbs up to ship it to me.. And it worked out..

I used a rental 810 cab and my genz ShuttleMax9.2..

Actually, I got one of those heads recently and I'm impressed.

Lesseee.... I'm guessing with that group, and that bass, you used the tube channel, drove the gain into just a tad bit of grit, backed off the high end to smooth it out, and then goosed the lows or at least low mids just a little (maybe even used the low end boost profile button, but controlled it with the adjustment knob), but otherwise, left it pretty much flat.

So how close am I? :)

I dont remember exactly.. Im pretty sure that i used the FET side though...
The difference between the Tube and FET is not as drastic as many say... The FET is a little more open in both directions low and high... and i like that.. I am pretty sure that i did Not use the Low end boost either.. The subs on the FOH had alot going on so i really did not need it...
I think i may have actually made it mid PEAKY onstage that day since i rely more on my IEMs and FOH than stage rig... i need to get more point to the note and less hifi since they have some real fast harmony Riffs to pull off at times, and i need definition and speed and not any woof..

The stage is not really that loud.. Everyone is seasoned pros and knows about the "D" word.. Dynamics.... and uses the VOL control..

The GITs use custom DABECK 50 watt Marshall clones with AKG 414s and usually some other dynamic mic.. So there is alot of open mics and need to keep stage fairly low.. I run Genz DI out and an RE20 on the cab most times.. and since it was a charity gig i was lazy and did not bring my REDDI.

So the GITs are not much louder the live drums.. Everything is micd and the side monitors are usually louder than the stage amps..
But I run IEMs all the time as well as the singer and drummer... so stage is not really that bad...
I have played with cover bands that are much louder in a smaller room with no stage in the corner...

The thing is,, the sparkle bass is punchy like crazy... yet gets that round wound sound without a scoop tone... total in your face rump shakin.. booty

Ok, I was just making the assumption (oops) that the P tone and the style of music, you might be using a more classic (aka Gov't Mule type) sound. Sounds like you're more into what I am into... I'd do the same thing. And yeah, I know the tube side is not a huge departure, but it does add some nice harmonic content, and especially if you did go for some grit, I think it'd be beneficial. IMHO anyway. I'm still learning my SM9.2, but so far that's the way it seems to me.

I TOTALLY get that. I have a P5 from another maker I'd say the same exact thing about. Best P I've ever heard or played... bar none. Just makes me glad I didn't play that sparkle bass at NAMM. :D

Oh I certainly did, and I certainly do haha....glad youre diggin it man I had always wanted to play it and 30 seconds in at Jimmy's shop I was like woah! This bass has some serious punch and bite with that glorious signature kbp warmth....and the neck just feels thinner and faster than mine I was like wait how much is this thing again haha....it looks killer on stage too!

I've got some killer vids coming soon done on some 5Ds with protools matched audio from a live jam/studio session thing I did a couple months ago right after I got my TB LM5....the tone is just unreal and I threw down some pretty cool solos hopefully you guys will dig but I don't think I can come close to Mitch Starkman killin it in those videos wooo! :bassist:

I know.. My cover band is waaaaaaaay too loud too...
I could do an arena gig with one 410 but when i do a small club they keep telling me to turn up to the point where my Limit light is now the ON indicator light...:scowl::eek:
