I like Jimmy's SS strings.
re Sadowsky: I prefer the blue SS over the blacks, which seem a little rougher and more grindy.
Dunlop nickles are worth checking, as are DA XL170.

Thanks for the string recommendations guys. I'll pick up some fatbeams or sunbeams and give them a try. I'll try Sadowsky blacks on the LM also.

Thanks Chef.

BTW - Are you saying the Sadowsky Blacks are more rough/grindy? I wasn't sure if you meant the blues or the blacks.

I'm thinking the LM will be my slap/funk bass. Slightly lower tension would actually be good too.

Yes, I find the blacks more aggressive/harsh.
I got one set of each (blue/black ss, blue/black nickle)
and have been using the blues ever since.

I *think* the blues are slightly lower tension, but, I don't recall, for sure.
The blues are lower tension than the Dunlops;
the DA's are lower tension than Dunlops as well.

On my Nord VJ, the Dunlops were an unquestionable win.

I put Jimmy's (turkish) SS on my LG at Vic's recommendation, and they've been on there for a long time now.
They seem to be a nice easy medium tension as well.

+1
Mitch is the man responsible of me playing Jimmy's incredible basses, he is not only a great player but extremely knowledgeable in terms of tone, set-up, well anything bass related...

BTW the sonic blue LG5 in the video is mine:hyper:

I definitely enjoyed those videos and look forward to some more. Both the LG and the LM sounded killer. Just need my special bass savings account to grow a little faster...

I thought this as well, till Jimmy told me the wait time was at least 18 months, so I ordered one. You'll have plenty of time to save some money till your bass is done :).

I don't know about the exact specs yet, but I think I'm going with a Tom Barney LG-5. I'm picking a special finish for this one as well :ninja:

The LM eagle has landed. I'm at the office so I haven't plugged it in yet -- BUT I can already tell that this thing kills. I'm so excited to get home and play it through an amp. It feels amazing.

Peter, it kind of looks like yours, if I remember correctly. Although, I believe you may have a white guard.

That's a beauty. Can't imagine you'll get a lot of family time in tonight!

BTW my wife is pregnant with our second due in August!

Spent some time last night with the LM. Wow, these LM's are fun basses. I absolutely love my LG's but I've always been an Ash/Maple guy. I can't believe it took me so long to get one.

I think I could be happy with an LG and LM -- and nothing else. Don't tell my wife I said that as she'll make me sell all my other stuff, but I think it's true!
