I keed, I keed.
Kinda.
I have basses I've had since 1972 that are in a little better finish than that one.

She plays and sounds soooo sweet though.

This truly has me concerned . So before i have to go, i went to the Alleva FB page because i remembered these photos being posted the other day.. And wishing it were coming to me.
This is your basses final assembly the day before it was shipped to Corner
One pic while its on the bench and the second is prior to shipping.

Even though they are small photos i don't see any buffing compound something that would be noticed...
Especially, that right before it shipped it was photographed for Jimmy site.
That is why i asked originally did Corner do a buff job in a hurry or something right before you got it...
Kenny Aimes believe he is from Jason and the Scorchers played this right before you bought it.. and he loved it

Yeah, but I can also see how it's pretty much impossible to see the kind of finish imperfections he was talking about, too. You'd need much higher resolution photos, and in particular, with a lot of "glare" on them to show the surface much better.

That said, I'm sure Corner will do whatever is necessary as the reputable dealer they are, and if Jimmy needs to do something, he will. In the mean time, the customer has been served. So at the end of the day, it's been taken care of.

If there were streaks of buffing compound. You would certainly see it against the black.. Buffing compound is red or greyish depending on grade... It would stand out like a sore thumb... And very noticeable... And im pretty sure that Rick who takes the photos would have noticed it too before he shot it.. Rick is real %^& about that stuff. to get it right...
So im just saying... I wish OP had a photo to post...
I just find it weird that the streaks would get past Jimmy at Final assembly, Rick at photo shoot, Corner Music, Kenny Aimes who loved it and wants one. He happens to be a shadowy fanatic too.. And then you when you picked it up..
I dont doubt you at all. Im just showing the info that i have and would love to see a photo... And all of this could have been avoided if you did not take delivery or let Jimmy know..

Hey Look at the bright side, Roger would charge $$$ for a relic and this isn't even a relic.:D:D Roger is the grand guru too IMO

But i hear ya. 4k is a lot of $$$$ The customer must get what they want...

Dude, you should offer a whole line of "relicked" AC basses... or maybe just offer yourself up as a relicking service. Get people's brand new basses, take them out on the road, "Kirk-ise" them over several gigs, and send them back with a bill for services provided... each one would be guaranteed to be unique, too... not like the relic clones some vendors put out that all look exactly the same. :D :D :D :D

Not to sound like a fanboy or doubt the poster but IME Jimmy is very meticulous. Without going into the whole story, he went out of his way to "rectify" an issue that ended up not being an issue at all (just deceiving wood grain pattern).

Its funny, i joked about that with Jimmy last NAMM. he only Half thought it was funny.;):)

If i get time later i wil post my kbp4 photos. I need to takes some.. You guys will hate it... But its Nitro... once it starts to ding , it spreads.... Then the old guy that was on our crew years ago, was more clumsy than me....I just gave up worrying about it then

FWIW, while I don't see myself as being able to bring myself to do the same thing to any of my basses, I do think the Poudah bass is pretty awesome. :)

The only thing that i did to the Poudah bass by design was to Etch my dogs name on the back. It was new at the time and in perfect condition..
As few know , i was on a session that day after my dog Poudah ( 'poo-duh ) passed away of a heart attack in my arms. That dog was my side kick for years.
The producer on the session ordered lunch for everyone... And i had a nice set of silverware in my hand and decided to etch her name into the back of the bass...
I had a piece of her tail fur that i crazy glued into the control cavity.. Thus named the Poudah bass..

I was in Europe last year and i had some guys ask if i brought the Poudah bass with me.. hahaha No..

All the other dings, chips, peeling paint and Sonic Blue now turned Surf-ish Green is natural wear from gigging, transport, TSA taking it out to Inspect and ding it, and me wearing a leather jacket with zippers on the sleeve, or a crew guy.
It has been on numerous gigs. 5-6 days a week for years, 1 to 4 hour gigs and more. total work horse that still has original frets, is lightweight and just plays like buttah!

My Sadowsky PJ5 is in a little better condition but going up for sale soon... but gigged to death too.

Working on a project today. Will try to take new pics later.

Those that love their basses in very pretty un-touched and pristine museum quality shape will HATE the way the bass looks.. But it plays better than anything I ever had.

I LOVE beating up nitro basses too, Kirk! There's just so much vibe that comes along with seeing the paint chipped naturally, all over. Every nitro bass I've ever owned and toured with has some damage. But I loved it. My old '69 P-bass (which was evidently one of the last Fender nitro bodies) came to me already beaten up and I just made it worse! My Fodera, however, is a VERY different story....I kiss and polish that thing before I go to bed haha
