LaBella RX Steels have been the best match for me. For a more, nickel sound Dunlop hybrids are awesome.

I bought my "1600 Ltd" from Jimmy back in 2007 (the 60th 5-string he made) when he was in his 9th Ave NYC shop, and it's by far the best and most versatile bass I've ever owned. Unfortunately due to medical problems I'm having to find it a new home on Reverb. Near Mint, in Caramel Burst with a maple neck and fretboard and quilted maple top), ideal for the gigging/recording musician or collector. Now living in Germany.

I bought it as a present to myself for finishing music school. Very glad to have it. I've bought and sold many electric basses in my years but this continues to remain one the most amazing basses I've ever played.

My go to for about a year now.
I've played it in, has that maple bite which reduces the need to mess overly with eq over a Rosewood..which I actually prefer in an ideal world, and plays like a dream
And sustains for days which is why I like my Alleva's over all else.
