A Bit Odd, But Very Cool looking.......! Vic, what kind of camera are you using.............?
An old Sony H1. Not a great camera, but it's "familiar". It does ok for me. I just haven't gotten around to getting something much nicer like a DSLR. Somehow, my money keeps disappearing... ;) :D

Thanks, Vic............I have NO real camera, but want to get one to take some really nice pics and yours seems to do more than just ok...........

Thanks man, I'm just VERY particular because I want to try really hard to represent things as accurately as possible.

Congrats! That's going to be one hot bass...

A couple minor updates...

It's official. I've just put down my deposit. I'm sticking with the Hipshot bridge. I'm going full Poly finish, satin on the neck, and the burst/tort theme. The only specials on this bass is, he's gonna' find a lighter piece of alder to keep the bass at or under 9 pounds, and I've asked for a "selected" Indian rosewood board. It's not an upgrade like the Honduran or (holy moly) DN, but he says he's got a line on some really old and nicely dark stuff he can select from that'll look and perform great. It'll also have the full boat preamp/controls. Mainly tho, really pretty much a standard LG-5.

I should be seeing the bass in the early spring.

So there you have it. I'm officially an LG owner-in-the-making. :)

On the LM, like I said before, I think that bass is already sold, and in fact, I'll probably be shipping it directly to the new owner, but I'll find out in the next few days. In the mean time, I have a little more time to spend with it, which isn't bad. :)

Nope ... wasn't me.
Kevin Jenkins is Miss Copeland's bass player these days.
I was in her band from 2001-2004.
Unfortunately, there were no AC basses back then.
I received the first AC about a month after I left the gig.

I just posted a new video clip on my website using the LG5 for anybody interested in hearing one live.
It's the clip of me with Coco Montoya.

You mean: There were no A.C. 5 string basses back then... I've been building 4 strings for a long time :-)...You should know that by now... :smug:
Jimmy

Yeah . .what about that Dakota RED 4 string /matching headstock string B-E-A-D
May have been one of the very first Alevas made..

Ok well in some other things I bought tommixx Alleva a couple of weeks ago , I was out of electricity for 15 days due to Ike, power is back and finnally I got the chance to really play the bass, I am a DR Lo-riders- Hi-Beams freak so I dId change strings an POOOOOOMMMM! man I couldn't be happier with the bass, I know a lot of people say this but the sound in my head was the same as on this bass, it is incredible , super comfortable, even etc etc etc. It even has some dings that add a lot of character ;).

Just wanted to say thanks tommixx for a great bass and Jimmy for making these beauties, and WOW! now I see why all this buzz, hope to get another one soon, hope there was a P with pre, I am not a passive guy.:hyper:

Anyways
Cheers!!!!!!!

When was that around Kirk?
Are you thinking of the Dakota Red 4 that Jimmy made for me prior to the first LG 5?
That went on to be owned by Vashon Johnson (Miley Cirus/Hannah Montana), but now resides in Dallas with JP (John Painter) at his studio.

FYI: there are a few available AC's floating around the shop: the transparent teal LM5 that Vic tried will be back soon, My beloved Heartbreaker (alder/rosewood/70's spacing/walnut top) needs a new home, and a rare NYC pre-production AC 4 with a Pbass body & jazz bass pickups.

Oh man ... i forgot about that.
That was the only outing of a B-E-A-D tuning for that bass, even though it sounded super fat.
That was also the best Hipshot D-tuned bass that I ever played.
I did a record date with it and everyone was flipping out at how deep & rich it sounded with the low open D.
If the string tension wasn't so uncomfortable for my right hand, i NEVER would have gotten rid of that bass.
Jimmy has since tried to get it back from JP and that cat is holding onto it with both hands.

O h yeah.. That was one of the finest sounding basses.. no BS.. and you know it too!
I dont think JP would give that up. It is one of those real special ones. like my LPB LG 5.. .ooops

I was raving about the Dakota Red standard J of yours and pestered Jimmy ( the way i do) to have him build me one.. then the P4 came out.. and i was suprized.. You picked that fingerboard wood out for me while i was in TX .. Great job! I remember that time... No back patting going on here just some catch up of old times..

My p4 is about the age of your Big RED LG.. we should compare photos of paint battle scars on the two...:)

My LG5 is incredible and Jimmy is a genius.

That is all.

:)
Once Tony's "pacifier" goes away after this weekend, I'm gonna' hate anyone that posts these kinda comments... I may have to unsubscribe from the thread until my LG comes in the spring.

...just sayin'... ;) :D

Hey Vic, if you ever need me to drive to Jimmy's place to make sure things are going well just let me know.

And when the bass is ready I will give up my time and drive there and put it through it's paces to make sure you'll like it...:D I'm such a giving guy...
