A killer and inspiring bass in every way...
It's the exact bass that is in the color section of Jimmy's website under Quilted maple...

Well, I switch strings to a new set of DR Sunbeams I had. The first time I have ever used Sunbeams. Unfortunately, I find them really harsh sounding on the LG. I missed the D'Addarios! Hopefully these Sunbeams break in or something....

I find that I don't like a lot of strings for the first gig or 3-4 hours of playing time. (on any bass) ..and then later I am like; Oh ...I see. :D They're really nice after all. Hmm?

That happened recently with a set of Sadowsky blue label stainless. I just didn't care for them much during the first gig. And then, they sounded punchier and more focused and much better sounding. And that new stainless steel sticky feeling settled down too.

I really like DR Sunbeams personally, but it depends on the bass and your tonal preferences. I think they are more even sounding and less scooped than DR Hi Beams. Just my .02 worth.

Tony got his candy orange LG "back" today... he's strangely quiet... :D

Well, life has a way of playing cruel tricks on a man.

I had Vic ship the bass out next day air because I couldn't wait any longer (and let me tell you, Vic packed the HELL out of that bass! Nothing was going to touch that thing!! GOOD JOB VIC!!). He ships the bass out yesterday and as soon as I get off work I feel a little tickle in my throat and headache comin' on. I took the day off...just to make sure it didn't get really bad...(and to play the hell out of the bass)...and wouldn't you know it now I'm sick as a dog with a headache so bad that my head pounds just to hear the keys on this keyboard.

At any rate, it's more beautiful than I remembered (and lighter too!!), but there's no way I can plug this thing in between the headaches, hot/cold flashes, blah blah blah. Damn it.

I'm going to go overmedicate myself now in hopes that I can actually stand to listen to noise. :crying:

There was NO way I was taking ANY chances with that rare beauty!

Oh man, that's GOT to suck!!! I believe it tho... 'tis the season seems like... lotsa' icky stuff going around this area at least.

Even tho I was pretty judicious about how much time I put on it, I miss that thing already. :)

Congrats! My Ice Blue RA-5 will be there too.
I hope someone takes LOT of pics. Mine should be
finished in about a week. :hyper: Then I wait...:D
Dan

Man, are you gonna love that RA-5........doesn't seem to be too many around or too much buzz on them......most people seem to want to check out the LGs or LMs and don't consider them.... the RA is a real "sleeper" bass.........

You want buzz, or perspective, or food for thought, or whatever? I've had my RA5 for almost a year now. It's flat out the best bass I've ever played, and since it's been here a lot of basses have been shown the door, including (among others) 2 Foderas and a Sadowsky. I wouldn't trade it straight up for anything - not even another Alleva. The RA is a special, special instrument. It might not be everybody's cup of tea, but everyone who's played mine has flipped over it. For those of you who are thinking AC, it is a "must consider" for sure.

BTW, yes I have played an LG5 (Dalbergia board), and I own a KPB5 (also Dalbergia board), and though both are awesome, neither is quite as satisfying to play for me as the RA5.

How's that for buzz? :eyebrow:

UPS eh? That ain't gonna be cheap.

Yep. I know.

Australia Post recently "lost" a GBE1200 for 3 days on me. They proceeded to tell me they they had seen my ID and signature for the item and that it had been "delivered". It turns out a very honest guy 5 streets away had found it dumped on his doorstep. It must have been too heavy for this highly competent postman :eyebrow:

UPS is therefore a justifiable cost for an AC.
