Funny how things work...
I've sold a bunch of basses to fund an LG; and had moved funds to the account I was gonna use to pay Jimmy when I phoned in the "make one just like Vic's for me" order later this week.
Funds transfer completed today, The Butler's bass was listed today...maybe it was just meant to be...or something.
Much as I prefer (much prefer) the way Vics looks (no dis on The Butlers bass, I'm just a "Jazz basses should be burst with tort guy''); this gets me a great bass, at a nice price, without the 6 month wait.

cheers;
alan

Best of luck I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

"nice price" is an understatement, IMHO, but that's ok. :D

Thanks for the props on mine, coming from you in particular on this style of bass, that's a big deal to me. That said, basses PALE in pics compared to in person as you know, so while we do have to wait and see, I'm optimistic about the long term potential on this one. :)

Oh, and at this point, I'm probably almost as excited as you are to have it in your hands. I can't wait for that first giddy review. :D

They are great basses- congrats and enjoy!

Here's a pic of the control cavity scratch on the nitro finished LG5 coming to me via The Butler:

I'm gonna call Jimmy and ask him this as well-unless he reads this and responds, but-can I/should I apply a little bit of clear over the scratch to keep it from migrating...?

Good question. I posted in the forsale thread it was no big deal, but I forgot about how nitro might be able to peel. I had a vintage reissue Fender with nitro on it and at the edges of the neck plate (which had been overtightened at some point) the finish was rippling and tended to kinda' peel away. That coulda' been a poor finish job tho... I'm guessing it shoulda' bonded better than that, but I don't know much about finishes.

I'd say post in the hardware setup and repair forum as well as calling Jimmy. Maybe even call/email Wilkerson.

I *really* don't care that it's there...but if some clear as a touchup would keep it from deteriorating there...then that's great.
Yeah, like I posted in the forsale thread, I wouldn't even be concerned, but then you raised the "spreading" concern and I remembered the Fender (tho I also don't know if that's applicable here), so it's at least something you should ask about.

I also had an F Bass BN5 (nitro) and it kinda' did the same thing at the edges of the neck pocket, but F Bass nitro finishes... at least older ones, might also be particularly fragile. I think he's improved things some tho. FYI.

Ok, so the room we're playing tonight is particularly crappy sonically... this'll definitely be an acid test for tonal focus. I plan on doing the F1/AE210x2 stack tonight with the AC and the "other" bass. :)
