Hey Scottm,

how do you like you dave king wood knobs?

which size are yours Large,extra-large???

I'm thinking about getting some...

I need 6 knobs so it will cost me 126$ dollars to get them, i just wanna know if they worth it...

BTW, the bass should fit me right too because i'm almost as skinny as you....

I love the service I got from David King. I sent the order in, and got contacted by email from him with twenty minutes. He asked me a few more questions, then started working on them! That was a Thursday night, and by Monday, they were in the mail.
I think I ordered Large size.
Cliff uses David King to make his wood knobs for him, that is why I went with him.

Nice to hear. At my request, Cliff put pink ivory knobs on my CB bass that were made by Roger at THG. Unfortunately, these knobs did not have an aluminum core the way that David King's seem to. Anyways, I tried to take my wooden knobs off one year after owning the bass (for the yearly setup), and the wood shrunk and wouldn't come off the underlying tone and volume pots. In fact, I broke my tone pot just trying to get the pink ivory knob off.

I think this can be filed under "stuff happens," but I wasn't too happy about it. My suggestion is to only use wooden knobs with metal cores to prevent this problem.

If your cb bass comes with split splined pots you can get wood knobs with splined nylon insert, for a press-fit system instead of a set screw...

Nordstrand and aguilar preamp comes with split pots.

Audere comes with solid shaft so set screw is better IMO

10.5 months. Looks like Cliff's October discount worked well for him. All of you who don't already own a CB will be very pleasantly surprised with your basses, I think.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the new basses as they get into the construction stage.

Best,

Can't wait to put pictures of my bass in constroction on this thread....

I asked Beav graphics to do a rendering of my bass. Just to make sure that the 10 months will be tough

Thanks for your help! all of you CB owner, can't wait to finally hold one.

the reason i bought one is because they are beautifull but also because every CB owner says that the craftmanship is the best, period.

Trust me, it will go by quick! The updates of even the builds before yours will help too.

So with my bass being about two weeks from completion, I thought I come by say hello and join the cb club.

I'm very excited about the Redwood 4-String that Cliff built for me, the feedback from Cliff is that the woods work really well together and the bass is not only light, but super resonant.

Here's a pic with the grain wet.

bassman74,

I am sure that bass is going to be awesome, regardless of what top wood you choose, but I am a big fan of koa, so it should be spectacular.
