What type of strings do you use on your fretless Clement bass?

Thanks,

Joe

I guess this was directed at the masses? *lol*
I'm using DR HiBeams on my 4-string singlecut (and on my fretted Clements), I have a set of Black Beauties on my fretless 6-string, and on the Phoenix I've got a set of TI flats. Changes the character of the bass completely. Nice variation, a lot more "acoustic" feel with that one.

I had DR HiBeams on the 6-string, too, but I have a piezo bridge in it, and the strings are sounding a little too harsh (there's a little too much metallic zing from them). So I changed to the black beauties (coated DR strings) and it got rid of the unwanted metalic zinging. Might try La Bellas later, I've heard good things about them later.

And don't underestimate the power of strings. Naturally enough, they do impact the playability and the sound of your bass A LOT!!! :)

Needless to say, probably, but I'm often surprised of just how big impact they do have. :)

Sound Clips coming later this week, honest!

No, I draw the line at green polkadots!

But pink's ok? ;)

Recently bought an Budget Ibanez GIO superstrat for the same purpose (to do some recording). Only set me back £70 in a natural finish from ebay. Thought I had a real bargain, only to find the next day a full spec'd non GIO with all the trimmings had gone for £60!! It was pink, but no one would have seen me in public with it!!
