Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Come to think of it, I am lacking a fretless solid body in the line up.
Just to help get the new thread off the ground, here's some more pics tom has sent of #208. Really came together fast. Anyone lurking here thinking getting a custom instrument takes months or even years. Not with Clement basses.
Another gig under the belt, another great sound from the babies! Thanks Tom, you have created a couple a beauts for me!!

And #196 did its fretless work at church this morning showing off its great swelling blossoming notes from the finger board and its articulate notes at the bridge. Best fretless bass I ever had. Thanks. Tom.

I hate ALL of you!!! JK! Some awful beautiful basses. Wavey, you're 5er is almost exactly my speed - love it.
I hope that one day in the reasonably attainable future, that I will be able to hold onto enough disposible income for long enough to get my own Clement built... I can dream...

I think I have found the body shape for my next project, but can somebody give me a clue as to what is the body shape on the 7 string
Is it based on the Mike design? After looking at the picture again in the blog it could be a Kim?

Was browsing this forum yesterday, and found Ed Friedland mentioned his Tom Clement bass in a Carvin thread. Just for the joint pride of the Clement Community, I will allow myself to offer a link to his post. I think he sums up my relationship to my Clements.

And although I might be one of those armchair players (well, I do sometimes get out of my armchair, too), I certainly do relate to what Ed says. My Clement basses may not be Foderas, but they are my music making tools and allow myself to express my feelings the way I want, and they are the most comfortable basses I've had the privelige of owning. For me, the Clements are the ideal instruments.
And it doesn't hurt that they are built by the greatest guy to deal with either!

For me, its not so much about if you are playing in or out - its not about the tools that you use. Its the attitude that you have to others that matters. Any form of snobbery is not necessary in the creative realm we play with (or anywhere really).
