The band's jaws dropped when I pulled her from the bag setting high expectations. These were met in spades later in the sound dept!
I was desperate to hear what she would sound like at gigging volume, and the mid punch that had been evident at rehearsal grew into a glorious growl underpinning the rock three piece perfectly. At a shade over 8lbs with perfect balance I couldn't fault her.
10/10 so far.
Thump on it!! Bit of a mock up, too. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh21/godsbassman/mockup.jpg
Just an opinion here: I am liking that satin Hipshot hardware, myself and sticking to it, but wondered what y'all thought about it.
I think it looks cool!
You said you were going to get it finished somehow... explain?
Something like this?

wish I could do that finish!
Is that not just grain filled with a white filler, sanded, dyed black and sanded again? I'm sure it's not easy, but I'm sure you could figure it (or something similar) out.
It sounds everything but "just" to me!
I'm sure you're right! For my own sake, I have no clue as to finishes, and to be honest... with the great woods Tom's using, I wouldn't want to have any of my basses in anything but a clear satin or an oil finish.Besides, I am of the opinion that a thin oil finish allows the body wood to vibrate more freely, too.

True. I didn't mean to make it sound like it would be easy. I'm sure like everything else, there are tricks to getting it to look just right.
The finish is beautiful and I am sure there are many tricks to it and sadly now I don't have time to learn them...t
