Club Cort - Take 2

I'm in :hyper:

I've had my Cort GB34A for a while, but it had been much neglected after I bought my Ibanez. Since then though, I've learnt a few things about setting up basses and such, and after a good setup, she plays great!

For those that say the neck pup sounds weak, try raising it - made all the difference for me. My favourite setting is both pups on - get the growl from the MM pup and the warmth from the jazz pup - I love it! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Of course, here is a pic:

Can I haz numberz pl0x? :ninja:

I'd like to join up with this little club if it's still going :) I'm the (somewhat) proud owner of a good old Cort Action 4, haven't got any pics of mine around, but it looks like this:

A bit more grimy, mind you. I've actually had it for the last 3 years, but only seriously got into playing bass a few months ago, before that it was one of those "when I have time for this" purchases that I got away with before the missus figured out what I was up to...

For a $125 bass, made locally (Indonesia), it doesn't sound half bad. Then again as a total noob to playing bass, monkey farts tend to sound good too :D

Well, tried out an Arona 5er, now I'm impressed! It's much lighter than my Cort RB5 (not that a heavy bass is a problem for me), the body is smaller but not too small, it's neck is similar to the RB5, thin and fast. Overall assembly quality is very good, no sharp fret edges etc., it's perfect.

The Desonic J and MM pickups are just great - guess you can't go wrong with Delano? ;) -, they give a clean tone with balanced highs and lows. Besides a master volume and blend control, you'll have a 2 band active EQ (bass/treble) to adjust the sound to your taste - I usually cut almost all the mids, and while the Arona doesn't give you this option, it just doesn't need to IMO.

If you don't like the black finish, go for the brown burst, it's beautiful! :smug:

........and now I have serious G.A.S. (again)! :D

Let me start off by saying this is the first group I asked to join here on TB! :hyper:
Sorry for the picture quality, i took them with my cell phone. Will try and get some better ones later.

Can I get a number?

Thank you

P.S. Not a comfortable bass to play setting down for obvious reasons, lmbo!!

Hello all,
I am new here- infact, new to the bass, I have spent all my adult life playing the drums and guitar in covers bands from 16- 46.
Recently had a heart attack and decided to stop lugging heavy stuff around and as I have always fancied the bass, thought I would give it a go!
I have bought a near mint 2008 cort, curbow 4, in that brown/red thang going on....I love the the tone and action on it, I have some smooth flats on her and my word- its a joy to play, very nice action and that slap toggle is to die for eh?
Anyways- I am going on a bit now, so- well I hope to get to know you guys soon- thanks.

hey folks, first off let me apologize for being offline so long. it was unexpected. glad to see bassdawg pick up the ball and keep rolling!!!
I'm going to get with him and see about combining the 2 cort threads or just getting everyone to post in one of them, and also get our two lists together. again I apologize for the confusion and my absence, keep rocking your cort pics, we'll get you a number as soon as we can.

@ Bass Dawg, I posted my pic on here and also sent a PM to you. I know you were give out the club numbers. Are you still doing it? I see CORT Club #68 is the last one to be assigned. If so can I be CORT club #69? Thank you

I know before I left I was in the 80's with numbers, not sure where dawg is on his list. hang in there and we'll put our heads together and get you a correct number!
I had my HD crash while I was out. I have a friend recovering the data, as soon as I have it I will post my list to avoid this in the future.

Well I'm glad the Cort Club isn't dead. I will respectfully petition to be included when it is up and running.
I got my Cort based solely on its looks, it had a really cool shape, and the finish...ahh, the finish! Its my favorite color, sparkle! And I really love the sound, its a bit of a one trick pony sonically speaking but its a good one. I got it for a song as a factory second.

In a KISS tribute band. I got this "used" on Musicians Friend. I saved $140, and it came to me in brand new condition with plastic still on the pickups! For a slight finish blem, I'll take it.

You got a great deal! I got a good deal on mine also, got it second hand from another TB'er. Let me know how you like the electronics on it (assuming it is the cheaper bolt on like mine for the price). I might upgrade mine with the EMG's that come on the higher end version. Not sure yet as I am no longer in any bands or giging out anywhere so have not had the opertunity to play it in a live band setting. So are you guys doing the makeup era KISS? Post some pics for us too see. I have been looking at some Gene Simmons outfits but are pricy. May attempt to make my own!! :bassist:
