Rosewood is fine for fretless basses; lots of fretless basses have rosewood fingerboards. Use proper technique and care for your instrument you won't have issues. I had a B4FL for too short a time and regret that I sold it so quickly. Should have held on to it.

Well, this is going out the door in a week as a trade, sadly. It's one of the best five-strings I've ever played. Best neck, hands down. Custom Wengé pickguard and Nordstrand MM5.2 installed.

Well, this deal didn't go through, which is a shame, because I'm really gassing for a P. If I wasn't in Europe, this would be up on the marketplace right now.

This post to show you the brand new, and so pretty, A4 OPO (Open Pore Ovangkol) : ovangkol top on a swamp ash body, Bartolini MK1 pickups and preamp, Hipshot bridge and machine heads. About $850 on some european websites.

A question, also : seen on the Web this A4 BKM (BlacK Mahogany) : mahogany body, Bartolini MK1 pickups, Hipshot machine heads and EB12 bridge (the old A4 bridge, the new one is the Hipshot). I have never seen this bass on Cort catalogs or on the Cort website. Have you ever seen or played it ?
It costs about $675.
It is named A4 BKT (BlacK Titanium) in the east european countries.

Hey,
I really fancy the Cort Artisan C5z - i've read reviews and they seem great! However I do want to try it out before i buy the bass. Im really struggling to find any shops in the UK which sell any cort, never mind this particular bass! Do any of you guys know any near the south of england?

I picked up a Cort EVL-Z4B last weekend.

I'd never heard of Cort before I saw this one. I was running around pawn shops Saturday just looking to see if anything new had come in. Almost bit at a 4 string Ibanez BTB that I'd been wanting to modify. Then I decided to go to a local shop that's licensed with B.C. Rich and Washburn, the oddball brands that I like that no one else seems to cater for. Well they've also got Corts. Looked at a couple, and found the EVL one. I was looking for another 4 string and this one had some awesome low action and just felt really good all around.

Came home and did a little research, then went back and picked it up.

I am considering buying a Cort, I have been looking at 5 strings models and would love any suggestions. In my price range I see some used Curbows, or new- T35, Action 5dlx, or the Artison B5. Help please.....:help:

Action = entry level basses. Depending on your luck, you may end up with a pretty good cheap workhorse, or a bass that will require a lot of modding to make it play and sound fine. I owned an older Action bass and it was ok - it had aftermarket Dimarzio pickups and completely overhauled hardware though. Lately I've seen an improvement in this line and I wouldn't mind rocking an Action V-A or a DLX - those seem ok (haven't testem in person though) ;)

Artisan (B5, A5) = the real deal; very nice basses, with quality components. B5 is Cort version of Ibanez SR505, while the A model is top of the line. I have a C model and although I like it a lot, I must admit the electronics are poop - so as long as you aim for a B or A model, you are set ;)

Curbows...some like them a lot, others complain about 'em a lot; the tone is different due to the pickup placement, so it's better to try it first in person.

I haven't got the chance to test the Ts, so I don't know much about those. The few videos you may find on YouTube kind of suck, you can't get a general idea of the quality and the tone of the bass.

Oh, and I would personally stay away from C5H...I had one and the output was very weak and the tone pretty thin (especially considering the woods); after 2 - 3 months of just sitting tucked in its case, the neck snapped and a serious crack from headstock to the back of the neck and further down appeared. So...

I would love to join the club if I may. :)
I recently bought a Cort Artisan A4..
I think its the old model.. The bridge is still using EB12..
Anw, its still a work in progress because the neck pickup is kinda malfunctioning :s
Hope I can get it fixed soon..

I just bought my first Cort bass - a B5. I think the price was right - $175 (new with gig bag). I wanted a quality "utility" bass to bring around for practice (like campsite etc.) as I didn't want to do this with my higher end basses. I play with very low action so I hope I can achieve this without extreme fret noise.
The bass is black and probably older stock as it has the gloss finish with the Warwick-style bridge and no switch.
