I want a set, but not at those prices.
Friends were asking about my brain when I told them I spent about $250 for a set of gold Thundertrons for one rebuild (should be done soon) and $200 or so for some Alumitones for another one that won't be done til Feb or so.
Putting $600+ pickups on a Jag SS is silly, even to my way of thinking.

Looking in the 'News' section of Daguet guitars Link Removed it looks like he's working on a standard humbucker shaped BiSonic/DarkStar. There's a computer rendering in the gallery so I don't know how far he's got with the actual building of it. So long as it's less than the incredible, high prices used DarkStars are going for I guess he'll have some business. I prefer the look of the original though.

I've been takling to M. Daguet about his pickups. As you can see in his gallery, he's altering the appearance of the pickups so that it's easier to fit in a variety of instruments without routing, but he's using all of the same bobbins, magnets, etc and techniques. He originally told me that they'd be done by the end of December, but he just got back to me saying he's looking at end of January now. I believe they'll cost between 180 and 200 Euros per pickups, which isn't cheap, but this is a very expensive undertaking as many of you know.

Send him an email if you're interested. He's always responded within a few hours to me and he's very pleasant to talk to. That said, I have no idea what his English is like.

Yeah, the exchange rate isn't so favorable for us Americans. If he decides on 180/pickup, that'd be about $470 for a set. Expensive, but many people would save money spent on routing for Darkstars since these should be able to drop in to many different basses.

I thought the DS fitted a standard guitar humbucker route anyway? Maybe it's more to do with tooling up for the unique (and very cool looking) BiSonic surrounds. Either way, I'm very interested to see how this turns out :hyper:

Hello everyone, I have actually half the parts done for a first serie of 25 sets, 10 goes allready on my own bass production. Yes the original bisonic "look" good, but it's not really "functionnal". I don't want to say that my design is way better , but at least he does the job. by the way I'm open to reissue it in its original design if enough people are asking for, now, I know how to make it and were getting parts made for so...it will be an easier job!

He asked me not to give out contact info until he is ready to take orders. Hopefully it will not take long. Expected price will be similar to DS as far as I know. There are so many parts on these pickups so it takes some time to get it all ready from all producers. What I like about this project is that one will be able to have the pickups wound to order. Bisonics and DS are actually very different and he has studied both to get it right. I lent him my bisonics to help him on his way. He also got some help from people connected to Hagström in the village of Älvdalen i Sweden.

Oh shoot, I dunno: that was long ago.
Fred told me to measure the pole pieces, I did, and he sent me the pup.

If the old pickup is in the DS box, maybe that says...I can check, if I remember;)
