To me, that doesn't look ok.
New surround, stacked on an old surround, different widths...sorry, I don't care for it.
Again, ymmv, and it's not my bass, so, it doesn't matter much what I think.
Your are right of course. My bad. But on Crosby's solo album it was the EB3. To my ears that's the Phil sound too - it sounds more like Live/Dead than Chris Hillman ever did with his hollowbody.
Interesting. For some reason I had always assumed that IICORMN was the Starfire, but you are probably right. I don't know when those sessions happened, but that was probably during the time the Starfire was getting the major rebuild.
unbelievable ! The tone is like Dark star but a bit , bigger, punchier, Growl & tight lows clear highs. I switch from Labellas to TI flats and if you can play with low tension strings it's wonderfull? a lot of sustain and mids ! I can easyly recommand those pickups as Bisonic on steroid sound ! Merci Roger Daguet !
My homemade DarkStarred 8-string:

Single DarkStar in the sweet spot, with an Aguilar OBP-1.

I thought I was splurging spending $200 on a single pickup. But reviews were great, and Fred was very responsive, so I did it. Now I'm REALLY glad I did. No way I'm getting rid of this baby! It's a pure rock machine!
