Hi all,
just curious, my BN6 is thé most incredible bass i ever played on ... however, there is just one little issue i'd like to see different, the stringspacing.
Is there anybody who can tell me if F-bass has an option for replacing the bridge or maybe just the saddles, in order to narrow down the stringspacing to 17 mm?
And of course if possible ... what shall it cost?
Thanks!
Harry.
I have 18mm spacing on my BN6, but I had it custom made that way, and it cost me some $$ too.
It IS possible to convert a BN6 with 19mm spacing to 17mm, but I would not not recommend it at all. :scowl: It would probably play like **** after that for a variety of reasons... mainly because the neck was made for 19mm spacing at the bridge and not 17mm.
The taper (width) of the neck/fretboard is laid out using the string spacing at the nut and bridge. So if you change the spacing at the bridge, there will be an extra 10mm or so of fretboard/neck width @ the 24th fret for no reason. And, there's probably all kinds of other 'geometric wizardry' at work here that could cause problems... problems I could not even begin to foresee...
Now that's a good enough reason why NOT to consider it... IMHO!
Pat.
