Wow, here is a clip of a guy playing a BN6 who is a lot more ambitious than I am!

Hat's off to you, Harry!

Well what can i say? ... It's me playing that piece on my beloved BN6.

THANKS guys!:bassist:

BTW; Tom7, Can you put me on the list of F-bass users (being nr 80 i guess)? I own, as you know by now, a BN6 as well a BNF5 .... (some pic's on my myspace profile, as well @ F-bass.com-gallery-users!!)

Thanks again!
Harry.

Thanks for making me member #79.

Let me tell you a little more about getting my bass. As you know I went to the factory and chose the guitar blank out of about 20 or so that George had made and were waiting for orders. I went with a highly grained ash body and a maple board, which is pretty standard. George said it would take 6 weeks because of the gloss finish. Since I ordered a 3 coloured sunburst (although I was pretty tempted by the blue burst Tom Bowlus has) I guess it needs to be painted 3 times. George explained that the gloss needs to cure for 2 weeks (and was emphatic that they wouldn't shorten that time by even one hour) in order to get the proper lasting result.

Later I wondered whether I should have gone for the satin finish for a silkier feel and the possibility that it wouldn't show marks as readily. But once I saw how the gloss enhanced the grain and the depth of the finish I was glad to have chosen the gloss. I'll just have to be super careful.

So after week 5, I decided to call the factory and see what the story was. The phone was immediately answered and the female voice on the other end, without evening saying "hello", said - "I'll bet you're calling about your bass". I guess they have call display at F Bass... Anyhow, the person who answered turned out to be Sarah, who builds the basses. She then advised me that she was working on it at that precise moment and it would be ready tomorrow. Talk about not sleeping much that night...

When I arrived at the factory, she brought it downstairs and my eyes almost popped out of their sockets. It really turned out well. George showed up and gave it the once over to make sure everything was fine, and then I left. I played it for 9 hours straight the first day, 6 hours the second day and gigged with it last night.

It was bright sounding because of the new strings but I was able to EQ it down to the sound I like. It is super comfortable to play and the only position adjustment I have had to make is to my right hand which naturally falls too close to the bass pickup (I think that is because the bass seems slightly shifted to the right with the body shape and strap configuration). It is perfect for slap style though.

So I'm sorry for going on at length about this experience but I just have to say that George and everyone I dealt with at F Bass, were awesome. The product and customer service are fantastic and I would endorse the purchase of this bass 100%.

Well, technically club membership requires you to post a photograph here so we can all oo and ah, but as of now, that rule has been expanded to include posting a video link. Now we can oo and ah over the bass AND the player!

This roster update edits Donovan's link, and welcomes Harry to the Fellowship of Bassists Who Know.

Don't apologize for "going on at length about this experience," we can all relate. Besides, I love to hear the behind the scenes stories of things, thanks.

Oh, and extra kudos for using the word "emphatic." That may be a talkbass first! :D

BTW, the way my hands sweat, the strings would not have been bright still after 15 hours of playing. I'm envious. :(

Wow, I'm officially baffled. What happened to the Invalid Link Removed maple topped beaut I've been coveting?

Same bass, but the sunlight versus indoor lighting makes the fretboard look lighter in the picture vs. the video... In reality it's probably somewhere in between... Still the best FBass ever made though...

Thanks for adding me, i'm honoured to be added to the growing list of the F-bass member club!!

Vic, please don't hate me ;)

With a pair of F's like that YOU MAKE IT PRETTY DARNED HARD! ;) Dude, I have always LOVED his blue bursts in particular. NICE! :)

Dang it! These are new underwear I just ruined! You should have at least warned us so I could have gotten a towel or something!

lol ... Sorry dkb, i should have warned ya all, ... but perhaps it's also a little naive ... doesn't any F-bass make you need a diaper?;)

Okay thanks.

the most beautyful about this finish i think, is that it turns into a purple'ish color with artificial lights on it!
I don't know if this is special just for this finish, or any F-bass finish, but man I LOVE IT!!!:hyper:
