Thanks for this, Vic. The zipper along the bottom of any bag makes me a little nervous, regardless of the size. I like that Protec bag, but if the zipper hasn't been upgraded, I'll have to pass. Thinking about a Mono.
Np, tho in ProTec's defense, the zipper doesn't really go around the bottom in such a way that the zipper bears much load when carrying the instrument (like a more typical gig bag would). Still tho, it needed to be upgraded, and based on what dkb said, it sounds like they did (tho I guess at this point, I'd still like to see a picture.)

Here you go:

AC5 has Flamed Redwood top. BN5 has Maccassar Ebony top, Birdseye Maple fretboard and single piece Ash body. Sorry for the poor photography...

I'm trying to figure out what BN5 I would get if I got one. What do you guys think?

I didn't realize your AC6 was being refinished. WOW!

The first thought that came to mind was, "Oh my goodness that is a long time to do without your AC6." My AC6 would have a 2nd magnetic pickup installed if I could have parted with mine for any amount of time.

My second thought was, "Shipping from Australia to Canada and back?! Wow, how much did THAT cost (and what is it in U.S. dollars)?"

My third thought was, "Yeah, but I bet his bass looks great."

I was thinking of you when my fretted AC6 arrived and I was tempted to open it and play without letting it adequate acclimate to the house.

Congratulations on a project that had to be hard for you to do; it would be for me.

Hey Tom, the decision definately wasn't made lightly because in addition to the cost, the reason the bass required a re-finish was freight damage! Full review, pics and hopefully some sound clips on the way... Needless to say I am VERY happy.

-Dan.

(EDIT: And yes I had a neck position pickup installed as well as a master stand by switch and strap locks).

Phil, you and I have very similar taste in basses I'd say, so naturally, I think you have GREAT taste!

This roster update welcomes Fbassed (great name by the way) and his two gorgeous Fbasses: an AC5 and a BN5.

What more could a 5 string player want?

I've been experiencing the same pain over and over here in this thread. That coco bolo is killer. Such beautiful basses. I continue to like them more and more. It's a good thing that I'm not loaded (with money, that is). I've always just had a bass and that's what I play. I could easily fall into the multiple F bass buying habit if I could afford it though.

Tom, you need help. ;-)
I agree, I DO need help... affording more basses! :hyper:

Actually, despite my latest acquisition, I'm actually in trim back mode.

I'm starting to get enough substantial experience with nice basses that I'm refining my tastes and preferences, and will be selling off basses that are fine basses to be sure, but not necessarily played much given what else I could use for that job, you know?
