I think that slap guard is something George has a template for. I've seen it a few other
times. Here's a couple others I've seen. They all look like they are the same shape.

Hi,
About pickguard ,for me, there are very usefull.
Poping & slapping get more easy and it prevent scratch on the finish.
Here is the one i made out of a 2 mm piece of plexiglass for my bn6.

VF4 Completed! I should have it in my hands by Tuesday.

The specs are '60's position pickups, alder body, rosewood board w/clay dots, Fiesta Red w/matching headstock, nitro cellulose finish, vintage tint on the neck, vintage bridge.

Thanks George @ F Bass and Jim @ Atlanta Bass Gallery!!

Can you guys tell if this is 60's of 70's pup placement from this picture? I never really got the specs when I traded for it.

Good question. I'm sitting here next to 2 basses with j pickups... one in the 70s positions, and one in the 60 positions, and yours looks like 60s to me.

--- EDIT ---

Looks like '60's to me. The distance between the pickups should be 3.5" center to center.

I say 60s too.

Oops! I should have read ahead before answering. Sorry.

Wow! That really turned out well. I'd love to see a photo of the bass side by side with thndrtk6's mock up.

Man, that thing is really going to have some vintage mojo. I think it's pretty cool you went with the nitro finish... it's just the right thing for a bass like this. Hopefully you can post some audio or video clips when it gets to you for us to check it out.

That really is way nice.

Wow! I really like this!

Donovan, is this something we can order to be retrofitted to an existing BN6?

This roster update corrects an error I made in previous updates... calling this bass a BN5 instead of a BN6. Sorry 'bout that, Dreamwood!

I'm there for you, bro! :D

Even though I have way too much gear, I bought everything (well, almost everything) for a reason, and for most of the gear that I own, I know the luthier/manufacturer, and I think of all the discussions we had about this particular instrument/product/etc.

Even so, I definitely need to thin the herd a bit, myself... :atoz:
Okay, time to reveal a 12 step program or something, 'cause the Yin Yang sold now -- payment received and everything. :bawl::crying:He's letting me keep it for the weekend to say my goodbyes, then on Monday off she goes. :help:
