It would be easier to just buy another bass.

I'm more of a bass hoarder. I have difficulty imagining myself selling an instrument. I've only done this once to raise a little money to move across Canada. It would be easier to just buy another bass.I think I'm getting ready to thin the heard though, so my F basses will be getting lonely as they are the only ones that are safe. The rest, well, no play, no stay.
Thinning the heard can be a difficult thing. I'm down to almost exclusively Fbasses and there is still the odd time I miss one of my old babies. Fortunately I just pick up one of my Fbasses and that feeling goes away pretty quickly. It would be easier to just buy another bass.I think I'm getting ready to thin the heard though, so my F basses will be getting lonely as they are the only ones that are safe. I’m dying to know what this F Bass prototype Marcel is teasing us about is. Instagram post said they are working on that AND reducing lead times by skipping NAMM this year. No complaints here. Maybe because my BNF5 is about a month or so from completion!
It might not be all good news for us bassists. Last time I talked with him he said they were going to step up production of guitars, and that would be a priority. Hopefully the bass prototype is something earth shattering, but be cautiously optimistic.someone ask Marcel about this new prototype!!!!!

True. I’m curious what it could be that they don’t cover already bass-wise. A production shortscale? We already know the standard BNF is done for and will be replaced by a 22 fret BNF.

I might hafta go back through my emails and try to recall some of the details on this. I do remember being told that part of the reason was the dwindling supply of high quality Gabon Ebony. They want to keep that supply for the AC basses. I totally get that. I can't remember if they were going to a different fingerboard wood or if making them shorter would solve the issues? Anyways, I was just about to reach out to Donovan and see what's up with my BNF, since ours should be close together on the production line...![]()
Im guessing the new prototype is a single cut design, but just speculating. Ken smith, sadowsky both major builders recently came out with those in the past 2 years. F bass and MTD have yet to do it!
