Club Fbass (thread 13)

Are there huge tone differences between your PJ and JJ VFs? I have been thinking about getting a JJ VF6 for that reasons.

These 2 sound very different to me. The JJ has a depth to it that is very satisfying. I assume it is the Alleva pickups and i usually use it with both pickups set equally.
The PJ has a great P sound and a great more modern tone with both pickups on. It has the regular Aguilar pickup set FBass fit.

This probably isnt very helpful as my descriptions of tone arent likely to translate accurately to your needs. Plus they have different strings on (fodera SS on the pj, dunlops on the jj).

LMK if i can help further.

Which one would be your blind pick for studio work?

The BN5 deluxe. It covers almost all the tonal ground the other 2 cover so would most likely deliver what was needed. If i knew ahead of time that i needed a P or 60’s Jazz tone i would take one of the other 2. But then again the bn5 does a great P tone! And Jj. It’s a swiss army knife instrument.

Best pictures I could take in job trailer... lighting is crap, pictures does not do this bass justice....

Got a question for the group. Having an issue with sliding harmonics on my BNF5, as in they don't exist. Just wondering if it's a setup issue or a string issue. Using LaBella Super Steps. They've been on a while, but don't have a lot of play time on them. Harmonics ring, but they won't slide. Thoughts?

Technique?
Sliding harmonics was a breeze on my BNF5. Strung with Fbass strings

Hello guys. I read all the comments and appreciations of the F Bass Bn and there is no doubt that it is terrific bass. Surely it will be my next priority but first I would like to know your opinion. Is the Bn a bass for math rock or prog rock? What sound could I get?

The BN will give you anything you need. It's about the player at this point...

Do your homework and check out the 100+ videos on this bass; suggest looking at vids from Bass Buddah, Global Music Force and/or Fretspot to start...you be the judge...

What Soong said. You can do Everything with this bass. I’ve played nearly all the high end basses and nothing is a Swiss Army knife like an F Bass.
